May they all rest in peace, except the hijacker! Such a tragedy,hopefully they are all martyrs.

I have seen the footage of the crash so many times it is burned into my brain.

In that situation, I don't think the pilot could have picked a better place to attempt a ditching.

I was on a flight Dar es Salaam - Dubai around the time it happened. After take-off our plane flew south for about ten minutes due to "ATC instructions" (captain's words), which struck me as bizarre at the time. I realized the tragedy that had unfolded afterwards.
