The following only relates to Hong Kong-Chinese cities-Hong Kong - not any other routes

Presently, Hong Kong Airlines operates the following Chinese routes its Hong Kong base using its present 4 winglet-equipped 738s:

Changsha - 4x w
Fuzhou - daily
Haikou - daily
Kunming - daily
Guilin - daily
Nanning - daily
Sanya - 3x w
Qingdao - daily
Tianjin - daily

Its future Chinese destinations, stated on its websie, are: Dalian; Shijiazhuang; Beijing; Wuhan; Chengdu; Xiamen; Taiyuan; Xian; Luayang; Shanghai; and Nanjing. (If you believe Wikipedia, it'll also sometime serve Meixian and Wenzhou.)

When those are operated, what would you expect the frequencies to be?

How does it perform profit- and market share-wise on its existing Chinese routes?

----

Hong Kong Express presently operates four Chinese routes using, it would seem, the E70:

Chengdu - 3x w
Chongqing - 3x w (China's largest city)
Hangzhou - 2x daily
Ningbo - daily

I believe that it once served both Guangzhou and Nanjing.

Does anyone know what will likely be its future Chinese destinations?

According to Wikipedia, not the most reliable source aviation-wise, it received in November 2005 approval to serve: Dalian; Dayong; Guilin; Jinan; Jinjiang; Huangshan; Kunming; Lijiang; Nanning; Qingdao; Shenyang; Shijiazhuang; Tianjin; Wuxi; Xian; and Yantai.

Will it realistically increase both CTU and CKG?

How does it perform profit- and market share-wise on its existing Chinese routes?

(I haven't included HeliExpress.)

As far as I know, neither of these two airlines make profit. Hong Kong Airlines is currently seeking investors but both are part owned by Hainan Airlines, for which right now it is not about profits, but having a HK based airline in their portfolio...definately a jewel in their crown. There is definately potential for these airlines but they need to settle in first.

Thanks, CX.

Do you have any inside info you'd care to share about them? Even if it's just which routes are performing better than others?

I can't recall seeing any advertising for either airline on my recent trip to HKG. Although it was foggy - perhaps I missed them.  Wink

I'd be grateful for anything you can submit.

I remember that Hong Kong Express had ads on Double-decker buses when I was last in Hong Kong (Back in December 05). I don't know what HKE's current ad. situation is.
