Low load factors. Initially SIA served VIE nonstop with an A340 4x a week. After that they pulled the A340 and added VIE to SIN-ZRH operated by a 747-400. This flight was daily. But due to Star Alliance and bad load factors SIA dropped the VIE connection from ZRH. The aicraft now stays 6 hours on the ground in ZRH.

Its amazing that MH can do well on its VIE operation but SQ cant. This means there are no direct services between Singapore and Vienna. Instead they have opted for a daily codeshare with Lufthansa via Frankfurt.
Maybe Austrian/Lauda can provide its own service to SIngapore, tied together either with its Bangkok or Bali service.

Since they joined Star, Austrian is becoming more and more a LH feeder to FRA. SIN is concentrating on FRA, Vienna is not interesting anymore. SIN increased the flights to FRA instead of VIE.

Avion,
The flight SIN-ZRH that continued on to VIE was only twice a week not daily am I right?

With the VIE flight discontinued, how many flights SIN-ZRH that is not continuing anywhere? Is the passenger load from ZRH high enough to fill up the 744?

I also notice that the Paris(CDG) service is not daily anymore, operated 6x week, with no flights on Mondays. On the other hand service to LHR has increased with 3 daily n-stop flights and both SFO and LAX have 2 daily one-stop service now.
They added a 3rd frequence to MAD and BRU.

I hope they don't cut CPH and ATH routes!!

Actually the flights from CDG hasn't been daily since last year when they changed from the A343 to B744. I think when they first changed to B744 it is operated 5 times weekly and then increased to 6 times weekly.

I think they first cut/reduce their VIE flights in 1999, when, as Avion mentioned, they first change the A340 non-stop with B744s via ZRH, then eventually cut them. This they only totally cut/removed them early this year.

For SQ's ZRH service, they operated as follow:

SQ346 outbound from SIN:
3x weekly SIN-ZRH-BRU
2x weekly SIN-ZRH-BRU
2x weekly SIN-ZRH

return SQ345 as follow:
3x weekly BRU-ZRH-SIN
1x weekly MAN-BRU-SIN
1x weekly MAD-BRU-SIN
2x weekly ZRH-SIN

I believe they must have good loads on their B744s to ZRH tho - judging from the fact they've operated all B744s till now.

Dellatore: I don't think SQ would cut their services to CPH... CPH is a transit point as one of their code-share services with AC to Canada so I believe they're quite "safe" here.
