If it went head to head with the A3xx at Singapore and Quantas and lost, why would any other airline not choose the A3xx as well. Boeing had some interesting marketing things to say on their web site such as greater range and more economical and efficient, but obviously the airlines who decided on the A3xx did not think so. And I doubt the airlines would fool themselves. Now that those airlines have commited to the A3xx it would seem that it is so much more unlikely that they would ever purchase the 747x once they have commited to such a big investment. And is it not especially telling that a once all Boeing Qantas decided on Airbus with the A3xx? I'd like to see an order for the 747x to keep the competition, but can you blame the airlines if the A3xx is indeed a better solution? Can you see a situation where the 747x would win an order? |
