I would expect resignations from Chief Operating Officer Bjorn Naf and VP Marketing Lee Shave to follow suit. Things not looking good for GF at the moment. Too bad history in the making is ending this way.

story below is interesting reading in light of the posts above - he also mentions that he will be meeting with the Chairman later in the day "to discuss these issues"

André Dosé, in a statement to Gulf Air employees in response to certain reports in the Arabic media, said: “Over the weekend, there have been newspaper articles about me and the Gulf Air management in the Arabic press. I want you to know that I am aware of what has been written and that I am intentionally not responding to the various stories.

'Going forward, I will continue working for what is best for Gulf Air,” he said.

Andre Dose is definately a gonna, its expected Bjorn is going too. I'm sure further details will be known tomorrow. Here's a last pic we'll probably see of him, taken a few days back of the upgraded at BAH:

GF Boss quits - Cost cutting plans marred tenure

By Ajit John
Chief Reporter

President and CEO Andre Dose of Gulf Air tendered his resignation yesterday, sources told the Tribune.
The airline spokesperson, however, refused to entertain speculation saying the Board of Directors and senior management were in constant meeting throughout the day to decide what action needed to be taken to move forward. They intended to meet again today to discuss various possibilities.

This follows weeks of speculation in the local media about the tenure of Dose. He was bought to resuscitate the airline after a successful operation in Swiss Air where he turned a bankrupt airline into a successful operation.
His short tenure was marked by unease over his plans to cut costs to the tune of BD60 million.

To achieve this aim, the carrier would focus its attention on the region and also trim its manpower strength by offloading 950 members of its staff.

This resulted in strikes by staff that expressed their displeasure with the severance packages that were offered.
The matter was solved when the government decided to intervene and bear the cost of the extra employees.

With EK, QR & EY growing rapidly, Oman Air deciding to go solo, is there really space for GF?

Either way, Dose has to be given the flexibility to turn an ailing (and not a great either) carrier around - no matter how much money a country has, losing money makes no sense...give the guy the chance to turn GF into the flying falcon (I think?) it could and should be...

As usual - politics get's in the way of business.

Sad to tell but Gulf -Air seem to be soon part of the long list of defunct airlines.
Their track-record in maintaining aircraft, deluting service and lack of vision in face to it's powerful neighbours have given the company the rest. It's simply not conceivable to have seven airlines on a stretch of 400 Km..

Trouble

"In-flight services head Michael Kent was arrested on July 12 and released 24 hours later, after being questioned by the Public Prosecution.

He has still not been charged but has been banned from leaving the country, while inquiries continue, said sources."

It's correct - he definitely can't leave.
Do I smell the word "scapegoat" ?

Gulf Air names acting CEO

Gulf Air has appointed its chief operating officer Bjorn Naf as acting president and chief executive following the resignation of Andre Dose after only four months on the job. Naf led a revamped network launch on 1 July, which places a greater emphasis on regional services. The airline is looking for a permanent replacement for Dose.

Lets hope Gulf Air will keep the strategy that was put up by Dose with the drastic reduction of staff etc, this will probably be the only way for Gulf Air to have a successull and profitable future.
