Let me start this off by saying a big congrats to to Airbus and the A300! Doesn't UPS operate one of the oldest 747s today? All of their 747s are really old and need to be retired soon, do you think UPS will replace them with an order for 744s?

UPS has been in talks with Boeing on the 747X an Airbus on the A380. Right now UPS is concentrating on lift needed now. Thats why the MD-11 deal and the A300 deal took place. You are right. UPS does fly the oldest 747 in the air N691UP which is a vintage 1969 747-121. All these aircraft are airworthy and well maintained. UPS has added a few more 747-200's in recent months that are on long term lease. Boeing has been pushing a converted 747-300 to UPS with the MD-11 deal. This aircraft is similar to the 7473 Atlas just received.

With the rate of growth Internationally I'm sure we will se additional heavy lift. What aircraft, your guess is as good as mine.

The A300 deal helped finance the A380 to be developed. UPS got a GREAT deal, and Airbus has been making a killing on the A300. The A300 has been in production for 30 years and has been very profitable for Airbus.
