I need some help from you Irish A- Nutters please! As a birthday treat, my wife and 2 children are taking me to Dublin for the day.

I've managed to get some ridiculously cheap Ryanair tickets from Bristol to Dublin, £00.1 each sector. Even with taxes and charges, they're just £7.50 each leg. We're flying from BRS on the morning of Saturday 08 December, returning that evening and I have some questions please.

1. Do Ryanair fly into DUB from BRS or is it another airport? Strange question, but they do have something of a reputation for using odd airports.

2. What's the most efficient and cost-effective way of getting a family of four into the city centre for the day?

Any advice or help would be very gratefully recieved...  birthday   champagne   scratchchin

The cheapest way from Dublin airport to the city centre is by ordinary public bus.

See time schedules for the 16A and other buses on the Dublin Bus website.
There are in addition express coaches run by this operator and others at 6/7 euros one way fare each, more expensive but faster.

Beware Dublin traffic, it can be very slow particularly in the peak.

Just remembered also that 8 December is also a traditional big pre Christmas shopping day in Dublin.

This church/school holiday used to be particularly marked by the provincial Irish going up to Dublin for shopping, - while this seasonal phenomonan is less marked now than in the 1950's / 60's it is still a busy day for road traffic.

yeah, I would recommend the Airlink operated by Dublin Bus.. it uses the M1 Dublin port tunnel quite often which bypasses all the traffic into the city (the way back to the airport it doesnt use it, it seems)

I think this is 5 euro each way. At that price, if there are 4 of you, a taxi could be an option.. reckon on a fare of about 20 euro depending where in central Dublin you are going.

Ordinary buses like the 16 and 41 are cheaper but slower as Dstc47 pointed out.

Go to www.dublinbus.ie to see times etc

There is also the aircoach service which serves several city hotels. Not sure how much it costs though.

Enjoy your day here!

taxi from the airport to the city(temple bar district) was between 20 and 30 euros if i remember correctly. Conversely, one of the buses that goes to the airport that i took was also very nice. Look into prices for the public buses, as the coach i took was about 7 euros for the trip.

FR clearly state the airports they serve, e.g. London (Stansted), Milan (Bergamo), Rome (Ciampino), etc. If there's nothing in brackets - sometimes a region, area, or country is stated in brackets, e.g. Alghero (Sardinia), Faro (Algarve), Maribor (Slovenia) - then it's that airport, e.g. Bristol, Dublin, Porto, Madrid.

Very expensive if you buy the tickets on the bus - we paid 6 Euros each way per person in Sept.

Did LBA-DUB-LBA in a day for my own birthday treat a few months ago. You can get a day ticket for the buses, I think it's called a 'Day-rider' or 'Way-farer'. It's 6 Euros, a great saving given that the one-way ticket 5 euros. You'll have a ball, brush up on you're Polish though !

Sounds like the ideal FR airport....  Smile

Enjoy flying from BRS, I did that route in the days when it was an EI SD.3-60, I had seat 1A and I recall it being a bit drafty!!!
