Well in this months agenda of the airport board meeting in FSD, the Top officials from FSD will be traveling to Dallas November 20th to meet with American Airlines officials about possible service to DFW and other hubs (Eagle Service 99.9999 percent sure) This comes after a recent Press Release in the Argus Leader (Major SD Newspaper) about new service to Sioux Falls. It sounds like they are going to talk about the incentive package with AA and new service, im think the Incentive package is 350,000 thousand dollars.

Wasn't FSD one of the original cities served with the F100's and some sort of waiver was given AA on the ORD slots at the time? IIRC political pressure (Tom Daschle) was put on the FAA for the waiver back then in exchange for service to ORD for X years.

Does anyone else recall this?

I know Eagle did pick up the FSD market from TWA after the merger. After the post-9/11 STL pull-down, several midwestern markets that previously got TWA mainline, and then American Connection RJs, to STL, were shifted to ORD with Eagle. Sioux Falls, Lincoln, Moline, etc. Both Sioux Falls and Lincoln got canned pretty quickly, but Moline is still there and going strong, now with flights to DFW too. Moline has a history with Eagle, having had service to ORD for years up until about 2000-2001 with the ORD all-RJ switch-over.

Actually i think it came out of a 2 Million Dollar Grant the Airport got, (well some of it) and lots of it is from like free landing fees for a year and stuff.

Looks like you finally get your wish for some new service to FSD.  

I think Eagle could definitely make a 2x daily ERJ service FSD-DFW work, but then again, of course, this is AA, so the stakes will be very high: financial incentives or no financial incentives, if the route isn't profitable within 15 minutes, they'll pull it. Just ask Duluth, Lincoln, etc.

I dont know if FSD will get this service though, because they talked to like Frontier and YX and they said they were going to observe this option, but they never started service (but those are probably bad examples)

I wouldn't say they're bad examples. Just a little bit different examples. As mentioned above, I could see FSD-DFW working. It also has the potential (if it did work) to open up a few other possible markets for AA from DFW in that midwest/eastern intermountain west region.

If DL is going LAW, then I bet FSD could try AA or Eagle to both DFW and ORD.

I could definitely see this working as well. AA has a mega-hub at DFW, not only would this provide numerous good connections to the southwest and Texas, but it could also be a good connection point for going to the southeast as well since DFW is pretty much due south of FSD, and FSD's only real flight to the southeast is the 1x daily to ATL (which I am not sure but I think they are trying to or have landed a 2nd daily to ATL).

Don't sweat it. Airport officials meet with airlines all the time. Often it amounts to little or nothing.

I agree that FSD-DFW/ORD could work, but I'd say that about almost anywhere, considering the size of the hubs.

Maybe you'll get your big dream come true and they'll have A300 service to MIA!

Well yeah, I kind of said im not getting my hopes up...
I dont really know if i could see ORD coming back to FSD on AA, and any east coast service, but ORD could maybe come back, not STL though..

I dont get into that big of service and say crap like that. But next year we will probably get FLL service. Its a few miles up north of MIA and its on MD-83, not an old, rustic A300 from AA,
