Topic: Why Airbus Never Got A "slice" On Royal Air Maroc? Username: CV990 Posted 2007-11-27 01:00:05 and read 2163 times.Hi!
This is quite a nice "case study" on how Airbus never got a lot of business with Royal Air Maroc. Of course the order for the Airbus A321 was quite outstanding, and at the same time surprising, but looking to other North African neighbours, like Tunis Air, Air Algerie, and looking the way Morocco and France close and strong ties I'm quite surprise to see that Airbus never had the chance to compete against Boeing. Maybe any north african airlines experts here can shed some light to this interesting fact.

I dis-agree with you. It just seems that AT had fleet comonality when they chose to order more 73NG's over the airbus. The rafaels were just too expensive for a country which will probably never go to war. The french offered 18 Rafaels for 2bn euros where the US offered 36 F-16's for under $2BN. The USD is also weak at the time so it was a good deal.
I think morocco chose quantity over quality.
As for the A vs B AT made a good choice by choosing the 787 instead of the A330 like AH.
I dont think simple pay-offs work with major companies although you could say so considering the recent saudi's & BAe

For the sake of good order, the French stuff is the Rafale (Gust), while the Rafael is an Israeli company dealing with missiles.
