Hello All,

Long time reader, first time poster.

Question, how do I navigate through the DOT website to find out who is applying to fly to the USA via Open skies. I have seen several posters claim they found out that XYZ airlines has applied to fly from XXX to XXX. How do I obtain this info? I have been to the DOT website, but I am having a difficutl time navigating through the site. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?

Your responses are very much appreciated.

Welcome to A.net

You used to be able to go to this page http://dms.dot.gov/cfreports/daily_rpt.cfm and get a daily report of all filings into DOT dockets. If you knew the docket number you could find them easily. However the DMS (Docket Management System) has been deactivated and everything has been moved to a common site for all US government activites.

Look here: http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main.

This new site is basically crap. Yesterday I failed to locate a DOT docket, even though I had the docket number. The search engine even failed using the title.

Being a conspiracy theorist I figure this is all a plot to keep you Americans (and us foreigners) in the dark.

Now if anyone has found an equivalent of the daily report, I'd certainly like to hear about it.

The new site sucks, but it's easy to find dockets filed on a certain day or period of days, it just takes more work than it used to.

Go to "Advanced Search"; select "Department of Transportation - ALL" (not Department of Transportation - *), and put in a date range.

Thanks, using the date option I found the docket I was looking for.

It seems the problem was that I was searching for DOT-OST-01-nnnn (as shown in the Federal Register) when I should have been searching for DOT-OST-2001-nnnn

Crap site.

Crap site.

Concur. My only complaint about DMS was the slow response to a keyword search. The new system, while apparently a step up for many agencies, is three steps back for the DOT.

I used to check the DMS almost daily to keep up with the latest filings and route applications. Now I dread even visiting the site to search for something specific.

It would save a lot of time if the new system's query answers included the name or title of the case and not just the docket number and a too-generic description of the action, like "Petition of American Airlines", when American files a dozen petitions a week.

I just spent a frustrating 3/4 hour looking for another submission into a DOT docket. Jumped through a few hoops but found it in the end.

When I closed the window I was 'invited' to take a survey. Why not.

So I answered honestly (basically this site is crap) and when I hit submit I got:

Quote:

SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle /survey/process has not been defined.

SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle www.foreseeresults.com:80 has not been defined.

This site is crap!
