I read on another board that Cargo 360 have merged with Southern .. can someone shed some lights on this? Haven't seen anything in the media or here. What's happening with C360's ties with Korean? Will Southern take over the contract?

Gosh, I hope not.
Around here (ANC), one of those airlines has a WAY better reputation than the other....
...and there's a reason.

Well Cargo360 owners bought Southern back the summer, with Southern Air becoming the surviving company headquartered in Connecticut.

The transaction was to have closed in September, but I don't see anywhere that it has done so. Not that this means anything in the world of private capital, but there's usually some sort of self-congratulatory press release put out when it closes.

Cargo 360's planes are to be re-registered under Southern Air (see below) so I would imagine the merger is still being executed. Given that Korean was Cargo 360's sole customer prior to the acquisition of Southern Air, I'm pretty sure Cargo 360 had extensive talks with Korean to ensure their contract would, at best be expanded thanks to the extra aircraft, at worst not modified.

Korean Air has been contracting with Southern Air for a number of years. I think there are 3 or 4 9S aircraft being used by Korean Air. So, this basically changes very little. The Cargo360 aircraft are in a little better shape than Southern Air which is lucky to operate all flights in a week on time.

The Cargo360 will start using the 9S callsign in January.

I also read about the Cargo360 aircraft being reregistered to Southern Air. So their pretty freighters will be repainted in the awful Southern "livery"? That would be a shame. Should be the other way around. Put "Southern" wording on the 360 livery, that would be ok.

Does anybody know what happens to the Cargo 360 operating certificate? Surrender to FAA or can they sell it?
