Both Fedex and UPS have applied with the DOT for additional Mexico route authorities.

UPS proposed 5x weekly B757 service between Houston and Chihuahua commencing April 1st
OST-2008-0089

Fedex proposes to commence 4x weekly B727 Oakland to Guadalajara and Monterey on April 1st and 4x weekly Lafayette LA to Guadalajara on May 1st also utilizing B727.
OST-2008-0105

Both awards are uncontested with plenty of open cargo designations available between the countries.

They should get this services with ease, no competiton at all.

The Mexican cargo companies show no signs of growth at all. MAS Air and Aerounion have less than a combined 10 frames, and nothiing on the horizon. Let Fedex and UPS haul the cargo.

Interesting to see them pick LFT over MSY; however, at least the state of Louisiana will once again see scheduled international service!  Big grin
