With the 767-300XM project nearing completion, YYZ-TLV will be returning to its "old"/original schedule effective on June 1st, 2008. The schedule was altered over the last couple of years to maximize aircraft utilization during the refurbishment process.

AC084 YYZ2355 TLV1750 (+1) - Effective June 1
AC085 TLV0020 YYZ0545 - Effective June 2

This will enable same day connections to/from TLV from the vast majority of AC's network.

Is AC reverting to a daily YYZ-TLV flight during the summer, and 4 times a week during the winter?

Unfortunately YYZ/SAN is being scaled back to weekend only service this summer. I just don't get it!!

Actually daily during the summer season, and 5 times weekly during the winter

On a side note, is YYZ-TLV mostly O&D, or does it have a large amount of connections?

Vast numbers of connections which were minimized by the revised daytime flights. Very significant numbers of connections from the US as well as Mexico (MEX & CUN) and surprisingly Costa Rica (SJO). With a midnight departure to/from TLV, virtually every AC city is within same day connection range.

What's (mildly) funny is that CO uses 84 and 85 for EWR-TLV, though that's the daylight rotation for CO.

What about connections for the sizeable number of passengers who are travelling between TLV and YUL? Do YUL passengers "bactrack" to YYZ to connect to TLV, or does AC rely on its Star Alliance partner for connections in FRA or ZRH?

"XM" or extreme makeover refers to the the refurbishment of AC's existing fleet to include new seating, new interiors, and Audio Video on Demand on every aircraft in the mainline fleet.

What's also a coincidence is that for years AC & TW shared the same flight numbers as well (884/885) departing at virtually identical hours.

This depends on availability / fares etc. All options are used and if on an AC ticket you could even combine and fly YUL-ZRH-TLV-YYZ-YUL for instance.

"backtrack" is such a bizarre concept in relation to YUL pax transiting via YYZ. It's about 200 miles away and an hour flight. Imagine how many. many pax in various US airlines "backtrack" so much more significantly to fly via major hubs like ORD, CLT, PHL, ATL, DFW, PHX, SLC, MIA etc etc.

A YUL passenger going to TLV could take any one of the hourly/half hourly flights from YUL to YYZ, minimize connection time to the least possible waiting time, then go non stop YYZ TLV. Compare that to flying via LHR or FRA or CDG, and you can be almost certain waiting and transit times will be longer, together with longer combined flight times.

Why most of the non stops between TLV and NorthAm are red eye while the ones from nearby AMM or CAI are not?

The red eyes out of TLV are more popular than day flights. On day flights especially business people loose a whole day of work. Whereas the night flights are long enough 11 -12 hours airborne to get a good nights sleep and arrive the next morning having an entire day ahead of you and of course connecting flights. LY used to charge higher fares for their red eyes out of TLV compared to it's day flights not sure if they still do that. Hence all other carriers flying between Israel and North America offer a red eye if they only have one daily service. CO has a day flight in addition to it's red eye and AC used to do also only fly red eyes out of TLV and as mentioned in the thread will do so again soon.
