KUALA LUMPUR: Qatar Airways will increase its frequency by three flights on its Kuala Lumpur- Doha route from June to August 2008, towards meeting the rise in demand for seats between the Middle East and Malaysia.

The increase will bring total flights from seven to 10 per week, equating to seat capacity of 2,600 weekly inbound to Malaysia.

“The number of foreign visitors coming to Malaysia has been rising steadily, particularly following the successful Visit Malaysia Year 2007 promotions worldwide.

“The extra flights mark our continued efforts to support the extended Visit Malaysia Year and to further promote Kuala Lumpur as a premier holiday destination,” Qatar Airways’ senior manager for commercial operations, Far East and Australasia, Marwan Koleilat, said in a statement yesterday.

QR has timed these flights specifically for the middle eastern operations. The extra flights would provide good conections to various middle eastern destinations.

I could be wrong but didn't QR at one point have 10 hops to KUL a week, some via KTM?

While we're talking about QR, my folks are working in Myanmar right now and they have told me that word on the street is that Yangon was dropped by QR in an attempt to gain a favor from the US with regards to LAX. This is just word on the street but as we know politics and aviation are bedfellows and for non-aviation enthusiasts to come up with something like this without their being truth in it is something. So LAX ahead of ORD?

Used QR LHR-KUL and back earlier this year and it was effortless. They are now my preferred airline to Asia

KUL remains THE worlds most under utilized airport, which I guess is why its such a pleasure to use
