So how are the load factors coming along for the DL JFK to LHR flights?

I think that the real question is.....how low has the load factor fallen on DL's JFK-LGW service?

I heard (from my buddy at DL who works in the Tower) that the loads have not been so hot.

Actually, JFK-LGW has been switched to a 752 so the load factors are actually fine!

The morning eastbound is the worst performing one so far (not unexpected). Evening eastbound is fine.
Westbound have been stronger since there were the UK school holidays at the beginning of April.

Delta needs a third LHR to JFK flight with a 1-2pm LHR departure and a return from JFK at 7PM.

Please, Think about Economics.

United States airlines focused on Europe (Delta & Continental) are in a very good position to fully rape the current Dollar currency devaluation in Europe. European's are going to be flying these carriers because now they are becoming kind of Low Cost in Europe.

People are under estimating the current situation in the United States & Europe as a minus to airlines.

Is DL flying a JFK-LHR daylight trip? Those are heavily business oriented flights and DL probably doesnt have the accounts yet.

Its not as if Delta has no corporate accounts in the NYC-Europe market. They didn't have the JFK-LHR lane in particular, but not all corporate contracts get to that level of detail. LHR would be included in most of Delta's existing accounts. For example, if America Express or Accenture had an existing corporate sales agreement with Delta (which they of course do) then LHR would be included in that. I suspect that Delta has even provided them with some extras to entice the use of the LHR service. Plus they have been in the NYC-LON market for a year now anyway.

My point is that they are not starting from square one. Anecdotal evidence from Virginia Avenue suggests to premium cabin has been surprisingly full, but there isn't much info on yields yet. I don't think anyone expects it to be an easy road.
