The BBC is reporting that MAG is interested in buying LGW from BAA if LGW is put up for sale:

I wouldn't mind buying it either, depends how much.

Something tells me MAN buying LGW isn't a good idea. Might be better if LGW is bought by an independant company.

We need more cut throat competition between the London airports not between north south airports.

I disagree.

MAG is a very good company in respect of the way it manages, runs and invests in the airports that it owns.

I'm sure they would do a lot better with LGW thatn the shoddily run BAA has!

Does this mean we will have incessant "MAG should be renamed London Airports Group" to replace the "BA is now London Airways" and "Why won't BA fly from MAN?" threads?

And I look forward to: "Why is MAG allowing LGW-XXX flights when they should be making them fly MAN-XXX?"

And, yes, before the hate mail from oop North starts, I am joking ...  Wink

I really don't care who owns / operates LGW so long as BAA doesn't have a monopoly.

I'm sure they won't be the only ones interested; we're likely to see Schiphol, FRAPORT and a number of other airports expressing an interest in LGW. It will be very healthy for London to have two competing major international gateways; it should have happened years ago.

Of course, as an aircraft enthusiast, I'd be delighted to see MAG take over; it would be great if they can provide the same facilities at LGW as they do at MAN!

I'm with Kaitak all the way.
