Is anyone aware of plans to open up any new routes from South America to Asia/Oceania? Expect that LIM would be a reasonable launch point if this were feasible??

Understand that QF start on the Southern route soon to SCL.

Has LAN any desires to further expand services West?

Are there any Asia/Oceania carriers possibly interested in these routes?

Qantas is going nonstop from Sydney to Buenos Aires twice weekly, Air New Zealand is going to Santiago when the 787 arrives. LAN and AR do ALK and SYD several times weekly with A340's.

Actually the Peruvian Ministry of Transportation & Communication invited JL and CZ to fly to LIM some weeks ago...

I don't know if any of these airlines is really interested in flying to LIM in the short term, but I do think the routes CAN-LIM / PVG-LIM or NRT-LIM would work.

However such routes are not feasible as non-stop. Perhaps NRT-LIM with 77L or 345 ... but none of these airlines operates them...

Anyway, I'm sure there will be flights from LIM to major asian cities in the middle-term...
