Was driving thru CMH the other day, and noticed a NW DC-9 sitting on 28R. Any insight?

What do you mean stuck? Do you know how long it was sitting there?

I'd hazard a guess that it was in position and holding for a widebody ahead to get sufficirent distance away, or something. Does CMH have intersecting runways? Another aircraft may have been on final/taking off on another runway.

I dont think theres any widebodys at CMH. I've been there and it's a very small, but nice airport. Perhaps he was just positioning and holding, or there was a mx problem causing him to have to wait and troubleshoot or something like that.

By stuck I mean sitting in the middle of the runway with no passengers on board. They had the runway closed, so I figured it blew some tires or something on landing and could not be moved immediately.

Widebodies in CMH....LOL

It had an emergency on takeoff, circled around landed, and ceased the brakes/blew the tires on the runway. Mx was coming by truck from DTW to fix the gear and move it off the runway. At least thats what ops was saying and pax were confirming when we flew out yesterday at 300pm.

NW 1491/22jun CMH-MSP. According to the local news the cabin got very hot after takeoff and the plane made an immediate emergency landing back to CMH.

CMH did get close recently with UA bringing 757s back! If only DL would do the same...

Years ago TWA flew L-1011's and 767's thru CMH and Eastern flew A-300's to BOS and IAH for a short while.
