Topic: Whats Up With NW Flights To ATL?

So I know with the DL/NW merger....flight schedules are bound to change to ATL...being the DL megahub that it is.

1. what is happening to the NW staff---gate agents/ramp etc... in ATL

2. it looks like b/w MEM, MSP and DTW...there are only 7 NW flights with NW metal now....before it was like 16 or something?

3. how many gates does NW still have on the D-concourse.

4. does NW still checkin at the North Terminal?

Any help/info would be appreciated!!

Three.

Yes. Although if you're not checking any bag, you should (from what I've been told by my sources in Eagan) be able to use the DL kiosks to get a BP (same is true vice-versa).

Nothing, until representation and seniority integration issues are figured out.

Probably something like that. DTW used to have six or seven, I think MSP had five or six, and MEM had its customary three.

3 not sure when they will become Delta gates. IIRC they have already converted 5(?) NWA stations to DL gates/signs(per DeltaNet)

Yes along with KL and KE. AF,DL and AM are in South.

If they are NW (by what KingAir said i'll say that is a yes) then nothing really, once the lists are put togther then they will become DL mainline. If they are contracted out DL will take over at some point in time.

I think MSP is going down to like 1-2 flights a day on NW isn't it?

Only in cities where there are no DL or Connection flights. I believe they are all in the Upper Midwest.

They are NWA employees. Even once the seniority lists are integrated, it might not be an immediate transition to having a DL paycheck.

We (NWA) have only two flights MSP-ATL now. DTW has 5 NWA operated flights and at this time, MEM has no NWA or Airlink operated flights, down from the approximation I posted earlier.

This is correct as of at least a couple of weeks ago (the last time I used a kiosk)...the DL kiosks have been updated to handle DL and NW ticketed reservations.

In relation to the gates at ATL, I am the bad luck for NW. When I came home (I grew up in ATL) for my brothers wedding in June there were 4 for Thanksgiving there were three and at Christmas they were down to 2 (note 3 had NWA logos on the actual stands, but the third one had a DL flight to Pensacola...or something like that, as well as the DL logo on the wall).

As a fan of NW, I have opted to not go home for awhile.

Nothing, but I am sure that they will be treated like crap just like those DL people at DTW/MSP/MEM will be.

MEM is 0 flights, MSP is 1, and DTW is 5, DL jacked all the flying for themself.

3 using a 4th common use gate, NW used to have 3.

Yes

They are mainline employees, ATL had far too many flights to outsource.

To be more specific all in Minnesota.. just ticking off Minnesotan's even more, and they are all at stations where Delta doesn't even have a smidge of a name, Northwest is the only thing most of these people ever know.

"jacking all the flying" Burnsie It doesn't matter if Delta or NW flys it Delta gets the money no matter what. They are TRYING to get the Delta name into the upper mindwest.

Its a good idea to get the name out there. Welcome to a merger. Delta name is going to be kept so they are changing the signs............what do you want them to do? Put American Airlines at the gates?  Wink

I think what Chris is driving at is that NW employees may be staring down the barrel of a massive furlough here in real short order. Going from ~16 flights/daily to 3 or 4 is a huge drop off...

Just sayin'...

Yes, the DL kiosks in the DL ticketing lobby can handle NWA flights...

I know this is only ramp as I don't have any contacts at the counter but NW and DL contract folks in MEM get along just fine. In fact they have gone out of their way to stop and say hello and we have decreased our bagage transfer time as if they were all online. Unofficially of course. Great so far.

Hello!!!!! Wake up people!!!!!!

ATL-FCO 333
ATL-AMS 333
ATL-LGW 333
ATL-HNL 744
ATL-NRT 744

There is where your staff that currently is working the NW domestic flights will be heading. DL staff CANNOT work these flights absent a Joint Contract. I believe some of these flights were scheduled to start in April. I hear the fleet swaps will be loaded shortly.

What a crock! Nobody in MSP (that I've met) has harsh feelings toward their local DL counterparts, nor should they. The DL people in MSP aren't executives in ATL making decisions. They're gate agents, ramp agents, etc. The exact same things as their NW counterparts are. I'd be extremely ashamed of my NW folks if they took things out on the DL people. Fortunately, I'm not worried about that one ounce. I know most of the MSP gate agents and can say with 100% certainty that the ones I know would not behave like that. I'm not a fan of everything that's happened so far with this merger, but fact is, us front line people don't dislike our counterparts at DL one little bit.

Thank you!! That's an awesome example of how things should (and I'm sure for the most part) go. Thing is, we're all in the same boat. Might as well be nice to each other.

Ok, come on. Do you ever have anything positive to say? How does the NW or Delta folks in those parts feel.

Quoting Burnsie28 (Reply 7):

They "jacked" the flying? I thought this was one team, one fight. Last I checked, NWA was a subsidiary of DL so at this point no one is taking anything from anybody. The a/c that was on the routes that Delta "jacked" are somewhere else. Pull from one area i push to another, right?... In that same instant, the former DL routes that may be lacking because of the additional flying got shafted too. In that case, everyone'e being treated equally  Wink

This would actually be the smart thing to do. Put your brand where it will need most exposure. The guys up there may know nothing of DL. They probably know KLM inside out opposed to Delta. The Delta name is what they will be seeing so might as well get them use to it early.

DL's track record of mergers, from the way i've read and had first hand accounts from former PA and Western employees had been much better than their counterparts. They seem to be doing something right this time around too. For goodness sake, one of the biggest hurdles as far as integration goes is pretty much had (the pilots). That in itself is kudos to the NW and Delta team (not management, I mean the guys that work for a living).

Do you really intend to try to convince us that Motown was such a senior layover that DL was just dying to get it for themselves??

Conversely, do you also intend to try to convince us that Hotlanta was also such a senior layover that the NW crews will be especially upset if they lose it??
