I can bet that the former AA people in PIT are pissed, as Eagle is going to handle these flights.

Good to see mainline return to Pittsburgh, it's way overdue.

Very surprising, but great news, nonetheless.

Fantastic news.

Now hopefully AA will return the 737-800 between MIA and PIT.

And hopefully, AA will put an early flight, Eagle or mainline, or ORD-PIT. The first flight for PIT leaves just before 10am, meaning that a businessperson can't make Pittsburgh for a lunch meeting.

AA hasn't flown PITORD on mainline in fifteen years. I'm suprised Eagle doesn't have a RON from ORD.

You can say that again. I thought we were going to be without AA mainline until some time in late 2010 due to that... darned thing-a-ma-bob pain in the rear thing that prevented AA from runing mainline into PIT...

Well, whatever, if this is the truth, it's pretty darned very welcome!!! Big grin

Really? When did AA operate this route on a 738? Pre-9/11?

Never. MIAPIT was briefly run with an MD-80 in late 2003 as a RON/originator. Then it was switched to Eagle on weekends.

Now, If AA would return a couple of mainline flights to CLE that would make my world a bit better...One can hope!

Eagle does have an RON at PIT. I'm talking about an early flight out of ORD for PIT. Eagle used to depart ORD around 6:30 am, but that flight was dropped, making the first departure out of ORD around 10 am. It seems to me that AA could schedule an Eagle flight between 7:30 and 8 am and still get a number of Eagle connections, as well as a few mainline connections.

It would make sense. Cleveland and Pittsburgh lost mainline around the same time and it's been long enough that American wouldn't have to (re)hire mainline employees to handle these flights.
