Plane gets in at 3:30PM, and leaves 11:50PM on that very same day. That is 8 hours and 20 minutes in TLV.

What kind of plane is US going to use on this route? Do they have a spare 330 around that they could use? I remember reading somewhere that their 762s don't have the range to make TLV non stop from PHL.....

When are the new A332's due in? Are there any pictures of them yet at the airbus factory?

They are using new Airbus A330-200s that are being delivered this year.

They have to use the new A332s as neither their 762 nor their A333 has the range.

Are the new A330s going to have the new J seats? To stay on topic, I would imagine that J-class travelers would appreciate them over the current A330 seats, and the cabin environment better than the 762s which are older and a bit more worn.

Envoy on the new 332s will be diagonal lie-flat seats with privacy wall. To my understanding just like what AC has up front. 279 is not supposed to come out of the factory with those seats installed due to the late decision on the interior config. 280 will be the first delivered with the privacy walls and every subsequential A332 delivery. In the winter, as the A333s are sent for their yearly C-Checks then the new lie flats will be installed.

Counting down the days until I can work the first A332 for US. Wit Rollers!!

Is there any truth to the rumor that Row 1 is being removed on the 330s for 2 more rows of regular envoy?

Sweet, thats gonna be so awesome!!! Does anyone know what US will name the seats or will they remain Envoy? And when does ship 280 get delivered. And when you talk about the 333, are you saying the lie flat seats like on the 762 are gonna be installed or the flat bed seats like AC and the 332.

I didn't even hear anything about it, I hope it's not true. I think US should had never axed 3 class service. Today, i think a lot of people don't even know about the flat bed seats until they get on the plane. You can't book them and you can't find info on them online.

Yep you got it Wn676.

2 in May (279 & 280), and then 1 each in September (281), November (282) and December (283), so total 5 for this year.

US can't use those seats (the ones AC has), as DL has an exclusive license for the US market. The new 767 seats are fine, I don't see why US can't use those.

Nobody wanted to pay for the service. Most times they filled the seats with Envoy passengers and non-revs.

Scheduling. By leaving close to midnight they arrive early AM in Philly. If they left at 5 PM they would arrive at about 3 AM too early in Philly.

They actually market the first row as "GoEnvoySleeper" per their website. If you have a regular Envoy ticket you can spend $300 and upgrade to the first row. It's discussed at the very bottom of the page:

Yes, but they need to compete with others. PHL is very close to EWR so they are competing directly with CO. That's why they are getting them. Plus by 2013, those 767's will be gone. The 332's won't. The new Envoy seats would be modern if the year is 1999. It's 2009, we gotta compete.

If DL can make JFK-AMM with a 763, it seems like US should be able to make PHL-TLV with a 762. Is there something different about US's aircraft that limits their range?

I think I remember reading that the US 762 are older ones (esp. the -201ERs) that have derated engines compared to some of the other -200ER that can make it. Can anyone else provide the details again?

Well, they should have thought of that before they spent millions putting new seats in the 767. A long-term operating plan of 3 different Envoy seats is silly.

Right now PHL-FCO operates with a 762, and it is often weight limited on the westbound leg.

Yes. They have lower MTOW and less capable engines. I don't know what would be involved in an upgrade to either (whether, for instance, these birds could be upgraded to 395k with just paperwork and   ) .

LY's 762ER fleet, which included a couple of birds older than any of US's, were 395k and operated TLV-MIA just fine.

SFO
BOS
IAD
DCA
LGA
LAX
ORD
BOS
PWM
IND
ORF
YUL
GSO
CVG
CLE
JAX
RDU
ALB

SYR
LGA
SFO
STL
RIC
YYZ
ROC
BWI
