I thought the 736s were only used on short legs, but Westjet has one running from YYZ to YYC today. What's the longest that these birds fly?

737-600 - Range with 110 pax 2480km (1340nm) or 5648km (3050nm) for HGW version.

VS

737-700 - Range with 126 pax 2852km (1540nm) or 6037km (3260nm) for HGW version.

I love the "hotrod" 736! I have been on the majority of the series -200,-300,-700,-800, and -500...and always found the -500 to be quite the rocket...I am sure the -600 is even more so! Glad Westjet decided to purchase them, and I look forward to flying on it (regardless of distance)!

Westjet was a bit more fun when they started out, but the planes are kept extreemly clean (inside and out), and the staff is always a fun bunch (at least with me) to travel with from check-in to arrival.

WJ also has the 736 on YQR-YYZ-YQR. Other than that we only see them on short hops to Calgary and Edmonton. Does WJ have Live TV on all of its 737-600 fleet now? I recall flying a WJ 736 YQR-YYC without Live TV, then a 737-700 YYC-YEG with Live TV, but that was around about 2005.

Don't count on getting on a 736 on this flight. In may I intentionally chose a certain YVR-YEG flight to get on a 736 only to see it was a 73G instead when I checked in. So ironically by picking a 736 flight you increase the chance they 'upgrade' it due to increased passenger bookings.
I never saw any 736 of the about 25 Westjet 737s I spotted in YYZ, YVR, YEG and YYC, I started to wonder where they fly, are they based at a certain airport?

Surprised you didnt see one at YYC or YVR. You will probably see around half the 736 fleet on a days spotting at YVR - they operate from here to mostly YLW, YXS, YYC & YEG.

I've technically been on a WS 736, but it went tech and when I rebooked I got a 73G.

Always remember to look for the non-wingletted aircraft. Another cue is the aircraft type listed on the rear of the fuselage...it's in the teal green colour. (The -700 is light grey, the -800 is navy blue).

Uh... Hmm! Just get over here, you'll get an overdose in an instant. I guess ARN is the world epicenter for the 736. I prefer the MD80's though.

The WS 736's are used primarily on Western Cdn routes from YYC, but do venture east also.

The daily YWG-YUL is a 736 year-round. YYZ has 736 nonstops to YYJ, YXE, YQR, YWG, YOW and YHZ this summer, but none last winter. YWG-YXU was also a 736 last winter.

The 736 fleet seems to rarely venture outside Canada. The only sked 736 intl route last winter was the 2x weekly YWG-PHX. Ths summer, I don't think there are any.

Ha, you're probably right. YYC would be a distant 2nd most likely.  

When I flew YWG - LAS at the end of Feb, it was a 736. Was regularly scheduled as a 736 until recently.

I was on a Westjet flight from PHX to YEG last year. Grand total of passengers: 9. It was so much fun to be aboard that plane. From the PTV to the very friendly flight attendants. I do, and will always recommend Westjet to my friends and family when they do the seasonal flights to PHX

The two times I've been to Abbotsford, BC for the airshow, there were at least a couple of flights that were 736's. One of these days, I'll get on one of those birds.
