Strange, there is AFR380 and 380B. Wonder which one is correct. Hope it's the first since that would mean it has a daylight arrival. Should in fact be there already! Looking forward to the pics  Smile

Should be landingsoon.

Would be nice if some Anetters were on it.

Was there a big send off in France for it?

I see the A380 is not scheduled for return to CDG tonight (not listed on FlightAware or FlightStats). Does anyone know what the ship's plans are for the next few days? Will it spend weekend in NY preparing for Monday's entry into service, will it fly promotional flights, will it return to Paris tomorrow?

Also, will the whalejet flights be badged as AF 1 / AF 2 to reflect their flagship status?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Daedalus

Well, I've been a long-time reader, and I finally decided to updgrade to premium membership.

I am booked on the flight from JFK to CDG. It is scheduled to leave at 8:30 PM tomorrow. I beleive both of the inagural flights have the same flight number (AF380). I plan on taking lots of pics and it might be my first attempt at a trip report.

Very cool. Cant' wait to read that trip report and look forward to the photos.

So the flights will then be AF 006/007? I hear that the 380 today was holding up 006 at the gate.

I couldn't be there for the landing...but at least I dialed in JFK ATC on LiveATC.com and listened to the landing clearances as it approached JFK. It was a great surprise to hear a female voice checking in as Air France 380 Bravo Super.

Also remember hearing one or two helicopter guys asking the ATC how much longer before the A380 shows up...something about being stationed between the 2 runways. Obviously they were there to take photos/video.

Well, this makes me want to go to YYZ on Monday and maybe get a nice shot of the Emirates A380.

NIKV69, I do agree with you, so far QF is the best colour scheme you cant beat that red kangaroo, not yet anyway.

I have to say that being a fan of Emirates and disliking Air France, this was my favorite A380 I've seen (I've also seen the Airbus colors one) in person.

The new titles are a fresh look and seeing it this shiny and up close....pretty nice. I find that the finish of the paint is just as important as the scheme itself. Hopefully they can keep it clean.

I highly doubt there's a cost. It's just a tradition the airports are probably happy to provide. Also gives the fire service a chance to practice using their equipment.

I've also seen water cannon salutes when a captain is arriving on his/her last flight before retirement.

Since today it is on for regular service on AF006/AF007, 6 weekly, with wednesdays flown by the 'good-old' 77W. That is a milestone for AF for sure. Doubtful they will really make money with it in the next few months, as it is low winter season and economy is what it is, new aircraft are not meant to generate a profit so soon, they have two decades for this...

Quoting Mirrodie (Reply 3):

Not that much from what i could hear. I'm in France in at the moment, although not close to CDG and not following the media closely. Headlines are definitely H1N1 and not A380.

This is the email report I received from friend Nicolas Dirac who was on the flight.

I'm now in Hotel near JFK. It was one of the best flight. The lounge was not so good then sia. No drinks at all. Only some pics and the gift bag and that's only the A380 model, nothing more, but it was ok. At the end we received a cert where we can enter the name manualy.

But the flight was very good. People where very happy and there where even 3-4 people from a band which played live inside the plane and everyone was happy and smiling.

Maybe you watch france5 november 29, at around 20.00. They made a documentation of the whole flight.

 airplane

Nicolas was one of us on the first Singapore Airlines A380 First to Fly to Sydney.

It sounds like the first AF380 flight to JFK was a fun flight.

The flight was great ! The IFE system is very interesting but there's are again lot of "bugs" ! I crashed my IFE three times during the flight... Two peoples of Thales were on board. They looked like annoyed...
I made a video of a birthday during the flight !
