Topic: OAG Changes 12/14/09:AA/AF/AS/B6/DL/NW/UA/US Username: Enilria Posted 2009-12-14 10:07:29 and read 7274 times. The American holidays threw things off and a bunch of stuff was posted today, so here's another update.
This compares what is for sale this week for the stated period versus what was for sale the prior week...NOT the prior year.
How to read:
AAA-BBB 3>2 APR means a reduction in one roundtrip from 3 to 2 for April only
AAA-BBB 4>6 MAY- means an increase from 4 to 6 roundtrips starting in May and continuing
AAA-BBB 4>6 MAY-JUN, 5>6 JUL means the change is only for the stated period May to June and then a different change for July in the same route
Please take it easy on any typos...

What I would take from that is that they needed to find a couple of airplanes. I would speculate they were overscheduled by two planes and were waiting to see what had the least bookings to do the cancels. It's highly unlikely they would drop that flying in peak season to put planes on the ground.

I'm assuming this is their normal seasonal build, but I don't really look at the prior year so I'll let somebody else do that comparison.

What downgauge of PDX-AMS? It's still showing as operating with an A332 daily this coming summer, which is actually an upgauge compared to this past summer when it was (and still is) a 763ER.

I doubt that's the reason. It's probably a tweak for connectivity that required another flight.

Just out of curiousity, is it possible to elaborate? It kind of left me perplexed. Currently DL is showing that they will operate 8 daily flights between SLC-BOI with 2 of them being mainline and 6 of them being DL connection, and it's been like that for a long while now. Does 5 entail regional equipment, mainline equipment, or both? Does the OAG specify equipment?
Again, thanks for posting these every week. It's greatly appreciated by me. |

Here is the detail by month. As you can see, it is way too much info for most people, particularly if multiplied by thousands of routes! Plus formatting it to make it even somewhat legible is tough. Enjoy!

LAX-SFO is needed in addition to, not instead of SAN-LAX. Eagle is just an unacceptable option for this leg.

Eagle does not fly LAX-SFO; it is all mainline on AA.
And even if Eagle (or any other RJs) flew this route, I fail to see how a 337 mile route that often takes less than an hour to complete is unacceptable for an RJ.

In most cases I'd agree, but there are a lot better options on that route where you don't have to gate-check your carry-on.

I am talking about Eagle being unacceptable for the Delta customer on SAN-LAX. Too many problems.
I agree with L1011 that DL needs to start LAX-SFO, but they need to add it in addition to SAN-LAX, not instead of.

I loved the Saabs, aircraft type is not the problem. When Ealge is your first leg on a Delta ticket you are unable to check in online and you can not reserve a seat. You do not automatically get miles for it, you have to request them. When I called with a few questions, it was as if this codeshare never existed for how many people knew what I was talking about. The shuttle buses from the Eagle Terminal to T5 at LAX are relatively infrequent.

NW's changes include:
Looks like no change in frequency, just a change in whose metal it is (remember there's no SOC yet so even though they expect to get it by June all changes in carrier have to be posted as such).

The 2nd daily flight comes back as a redeye on 6/6/10. Funny that I look into the schedule far out and it is loaded until 11/6/10. I am sure the 2nd daily will go back to daytime after the summer season just like previous years.

Good. Should never have been cut in the first place.
That's a shame. RST used to be a very convenient way for people south of MSP to shorten and simplify their flying experience. It wasn't long ago that DC-9s and large RJs frequently RST. Now it's 4 CRJ-200s and a single SF34. The viability of RST is fading quickly. |

Just because B6 is becoming a VERY seasonal airline. My guess is that the non-seasonal core (routes without seasonal adjustments) is well under 50%. I'd be surprised if that route made it out of the other 50% with seasonal adjustment.

They may not have announced the cut as seasonal (cuts never get announced anyway), but it was selling as daily for the Summer until now.
