All DC-8-73's. They retired the -63's about two years ago.

The -73 is a work horse. You can pack that thing full of freight (especially with the bellies) and it will go all the way to Europe without any payload restrictions. They don't build tanks like that anymore.

I thought DHL were using their new B767F's on US to EMA and LEJ routes now ?

ABX Air seems to be flying the 762 transatlantic for DHL, rather than AStar. However, the Astar DC8s are still flying; the ABX DC8s were retired a while back.

No i really dont think so.The DC-8 is a good aircraft but is an old aircraft and some of the airlines that owns that kind of aircraft and they must be replaced by other aircrafts.I think that the same goes with the 727 they are to old and right now some airlines have it and i think that they must be replaced quickly.
Angel.

DHL has no DC-8s. DHL uses a contractor, Astar, that has DC-8s. Although I believe they are done flying for DHL

Not aware of DHL using 762's for transatlantic. Are you referring to the 763's operated by DHL Air UK?

I have another DHL related questions, many 757s are D-registered while the new 767s all are G-registered.
Are these also used by contractors or does DHL own separate airline branches ?

DHL Aviation indeed owns seperate airline branches.

Some former belgian (OO-XXX) registered 757s and A300 belong to European Air Transports Leipzig GmbH, recently founded after moving the operations from Brussels.

Other 757s and the new 767s belong to DHL Air UK, the british "subsidiary" of DHL Aviation, thats why they are G-registered.

The EAT A300's didnt move to the German register, they are all flown by Air Contractors (EI-).

I saw a pic on another website of an ABX 762 departing either BRU or LGG (not sure which) with the comment "Early morning depature to JFK for DHL"

They are in DHL colors tho, which to the casual observer (me included) means that they look like DHL aircraft.

To answer the OP's question they are still flying for DHL, there was one in JFK on Sunday

The ABX 767's are not flying to europe on the DHL contract. They are on a separate contract for someone else....

One way or the other, the caption was wrong.
ABX flies out of BRU for DHL on a LEJ-BRU-LOS vv route and out of LGG for TNT to/from JFK and STN.

Don't go saying that kinda stuff around some of the "old metal buffs" in this community.

That's ridiculous. What do you base this on? Being old means nothing, especially when flying cargo.

Does anyone have info on regular routes or timetables for the DC-8s in service, either by DHL or contractors? I'd love to see a few more of them before they disappear.

My mistake, looked up the photo again & it was taken @ LGG, caption simply said "early morning depature to New York"
