My guess is AA. They seem to be ordering new 738s every quarter and announcing the purchases on their conference calls.

Or maybe it's WN buying 30 737-800s now that SWAPA has agreed to a payscale for the 738?

WN still has 107 unfilled 737-700 orders, so I would think they would be more inclined to do a conversion from 737-700s to 737-800s.

IT's possible but the vote still hasn't gone out yet. That's not to say they couldn't have ordered them already my personal opinion is that they will start by converting 73Gs to 738s that are alerady on the books.

I hope it's AA. With earnings set to be announced next week, perhaps this order will be revealed next week when US-based carriers announce earnings. Maybe it's UA-Co as a replacement for some of UA's A320s!    hehe.

Though it was announced in July is it possible these 30 orders might be for SpiceJet firming their announcement?

On 30 July, SpiceJet said it has placed a fresh order for 30 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Certainly seems logical. BTW, it says they are the 2nd largest Indian LCC - who is the first? Indigo?

Highly doubtful its WN. With the recent news of the AirTran buy out they will be adding 53 737-7s to there fleet.
I don't think they would need that order now. Just my 2 cents.

The 50+ Airtran 737-700s are needed just to keep that airline's routes going. More important are the 65 Airtran orders, which will mean that WN will have over 170 airframes on order. I think they'll be fine.
