Hey people!

I am flying out to TLV on the upcoming thursday. Flying with Lufthansa through FRA on LH686. And I am wondering if it might be the among the shortest scheduled international flights in Lufthansa's network operated by 747-400s. I know that the 744 have occasionally been used on Domestic flights in Germany as well but lets see beyond that.

There are at least two shorter routes:

BKK-SGN at 387 nm
BKK-KUL at 656 nm
FRA-TLV at 1596 nm

Are you able to buy a ticket BKK-SGN or is it just picking up more travelers on the way back to Germany?

Three. There's also SIN-CGK at 474nm.

You can buy stand-alone tickets on all three of the routes mentioned above. LH has full 5th freedom rights on those sectors.

Considering FRA only: yes, TLV is the shortest. Next shortest is FRA-DXB, which is almost twice as long.

That's odd. I checked the timetable at www.staralliance.com before posting and it was (and still is) showing A346s to CAI.

I've now checked the LH website and it's showing B744s to CAI.

I guess the *A timetable doesn't get updated much once it's programmed.

Thanks for all replies. Actually FRA-CAI is 20 miles shorter than FRA-TLV. But anyhow I got the answers I was looking for.
