This 743 for Orient Thai has the British Airways tail color scheme. Wouldn't this be considered illegal to have the same colors as another airline?

hardly, the full scheme is nowhere near close to being like BA c/s

The Orient Thai 743 has the flag of Thailand on their tail. And as you can see both tails are different, they don't look alike.

I do see where he is coming from the first time I saw a an Orient Thai aircraft I mistoke it for a BA 743 in a kinda hybrid c/s

At a distance, you can almost imagine that the Orient Thai 743 has a kind of speedbird near the front

OMG! total ripoff! they didn't even tried to make it slightly different! just the bird on the tail being smaller... maybe this Paraguayan Airline hired a Chinese Image Company... Lingdor maybe? (Landor)

No eyebrows on the Paraguayan 732s either...

And I remember how they painted the tail on some of those OX 747s, they used bamboo scaffoldings and just painted it outside on the cargo apron at Don Muang with paint rollers.

I'd guess that most folks (being your general public, not aviation buffs) wouldn't even notice the tails or how they're painted.

Of those that do, it is really easy to see one tail and confuse it with the other. It's really only when you see the two side-by-side that you can easily spot the differences. Folks who don't know what the Thai flag looks like would probably be even more confused.

Being vaguely similar does not make it "the same."

I strongly suspect that the vast majority of the flying public would be unable to identify the BA livery OR the flag of Thailand if asked to do so. As others have stated, the similarity between the two isn't that strong. The case of Gulf Air v.s. Paraguay however...
