I spent last weekend in Poznan and read in a local tourist brochure that the local airport will be expanded to make it the second largest in Poland after Warsaw. I don't know if this means that the entire airport will be expanded or only the terminal facilities. Since my hotel was under the flight path, I noticed that air traffic has increased in the last few years, but it's still rather small since Poznan only has a population of 600,000. Incidentally, I saw LOT and EuroLOT ATRs, LOT ERJs, and an SAS Dash-8 up above. Does anyone have detailed info about the expansion plans? |

Given the polish population (almost 40 mill. people), economic growth, geographical distances and future membership in the EC, Warsaw and its airport won´t be able to handle all international flights. |

Other Polish cities have flights to European destinations, but airfares remain beyond the reach of most Poles and so the flights are on smaller aircraft. Only Warsaw can be considered a busy airport. |
