Any guesses as to the new city?

This is random, but I saw G4 at CAK on Friday and they were doing ground work, and a lot of random ramp stuff. I thought it might have been a charter, but it may have been more.

I'm going to go with Helena. It's the last remaining city in Montana they don't serve

Couple Ideas:

IAG (Niagara Falls) seems to have had some recent success with second teir airlines to leisure cities (Spirit, Vision and Direct Air).

Westover MA (Springfield) former Skybus "Hartford" applied for a SCASD grant for G4 type service.

Several months ago CKV; 55 miles NW of BNA on the TN/KY state line had mentioned they wanted to woo a carrier to Orlando. CKV is recognized as a corporate airport. A new terminal is currently under construction. The airport is adjacent to the Fort Campbell, KY Army Post and is the 10th largest base in DoD.

Ozark flew there in several times a week in the late 70's and or early 80's

IAG is a great possibility for that region. I don't see Westover though. I think ORH would be the most likely city if its a NE city, followed behind PSM maybe?

Im surprised that neither one of those worked for G4 earlier. ORH might be a little to close to the competition with WN in BOS PVD MHT and BDL and B6 in BOS and BDL and probably PVD within a couple years.

PSM I think went away during the sjybus era and fuel spike, so maybe conditions have improved.

I think PVU has great potential in the G4 network. LAS and IWA obviously come to mind but LAX and SAN could work as well.

Didnt Allegiant serve ORH about 5 years ago and stopped service? The airport was empty until Direct Air showed up about three years after G4 left.

A tad bit more than that!

OZ Flt 830: CKV-CGI-MWA-STL daily except Sat FK7
OZ Flt 808: CKV-SDF daily FK7
OZ Flt 823: CKV-PAH-STL-COU-MCI daily FK7

Effective 9/1/1976

They were gone by 1979 however...

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the possibility of Allegiant at GYY. G4 flies casino charters in there often, but hasn't started scheduled service yet because of railroad tracks near GYY. Now that GYY's expansion (that will reroute the tracks) is well underway, I could see G4 starting SFB and/or PIE.

You are correct. I don't think G4 will return, as Worcester's mayor called publicly labeled G4 a "charlatan" for (in his opinion) failing to live up to the city's contractual obligations. G4 stated that they left ORH because of poor loads and package sales, along with the above-average price of Jet A at ORH.

This was a charter for the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns for their game against Kent State last Saturday. The airplane and crew spent the night in CAK Friday night and flew the team home after the game Saturday.

With the 3rd highest load factors in the Allegiant Air system and the 2nd lowest overhead cost, I don't think Allegiant will choose to go to CAK when they have those two perks an hour away in Youngstown (YNG).

If FL/WN leaves CAK ( don't think that'll happen ) G4 could have an exponentially larger CAK operation than they ever will at YNG. Excellent cheer-leading as always my friend.

IAG i could see. TTN if the NIMBYs don't go crazy again? one daily flight to florida during the day can it really be that bad?

Maybe ACY. Its seems to be a great market to Florida? I know spirit owns that airport but i could see allegiant rolling in and doing very well.

Everytime this type of G4 thread comes up it feels like the a.net guess-the-airport lottery, and because I know that someday it will definitely happen, I'm going to put my guess in for MHK - Manhatan Kansas, because one of these days I'll be right.

My gut tells me something out west. Focus seems to have shifted to IWA recently and I think there are still a few places you can hit IWA and LAS from out west and turn a buck. I'm not sure where but last time this came up I mentioned I thought CIC might make a good addition to the map.

I was on the Allegiant Web site this morning and noticed that in October G4 will begin 2x a week service from Stockton to Palm Springs. I wish them well on this new service and hope for LAX some day.

It looks like the new city is AVL with flights to SFB.

That's not at all unexpected. With the departure of WN/FL from AVL this is a good opportunity for them.

Niagara Falls, NY is the newest city with non-stop service to Las Vegas! IAG is the winner! I called Allegiant and verified the information with customer service.

Unless the agent was incorrect, Niagara Falls is the newest destination for Allegiant.

Well with G4 taking over PHF and AVL to SFB, one has to wonder how far behind MLI-SFB is

My first reaction was "Uh-oh, G4 must be preparing to shift operations in this region to AVL, now that WN is in town!".  Wow! But on a local forum on a city/metro area-oriented website, a poster swears their LF if upwards of 95% at GSP. So, maybe there's enough market in this region for both(?)...

There's plenty of demand for both. FL has done very well at AVL (even with both G4 and WN down the road at GSP), demonstrating there's a market for G4 at AVL. G4 will now have a solid presence at three of the region's airports: GSP, TRI and AVL..

If true that's great for both GSP and G4. Especially since they are competing almost directly with WN on the GSP-Orlando market (almost because I realize that one is to MCO and the other to SFB). I've never taken the opportunity to fly G4 out of GSP, but from the folks I have spoken with they loved the service. It seems they have developed a good following here.

Too bad it just doesn't fit the WN model. I was hoping to get a chance to take that flight one day, but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Congrats to AVL on your new service!
