So I have a question that maybe no one knows the answer to but here it is anyway:

What is WN's plan for ATL? It looks as though they are entering ATL as a new carrier, not as FL rebranded. So who will be handling WN? Will they hire their own WN employees or will FL handle them above and below wing? Also, I thought that since they're starting ATL-MDW, BWI, etc, etc that FL would drop their ATL-MDW, BWI, etc, etc service. However, from the best I can tell, FL is still operating these routes in addition to WN's service. Lastly, does anyone know when we can book ATL-MCO, for example, on Southwest.com?

WN employees will be handling the daily OPS of WN flights. I believe that FL will still fly those routes as is. As far as ATL-MCO that remains to be seen.

Right now Southwest is replacing FL flights one-for-one is what I understand, so for every WN flight, a FL flight gets dropped.

Given what WN has said about plans for ATL, will they be connecting non-FL cities (especially in the South, i.e. JAN and LIT) to ATL?

ATL starts on Feb 12, 2012 with 15 flights and 2 more added shortly there after. WN will be staffing all flights both customer service , ops and ramp with WN employees. Station Manager has been appointed and positions for WN employees was posted sometime back. FL does not do cargo and it is my understanding that WN will open up a cargo facility and run freight on the WN flights. When those silver columns go up in ATL you will know what gate (s) they plan on using. Tech service will come in and add the computer podium for the gate and then a customer service podium. WN operation is somewhat different than most airlines. The WN employee at the boarding door is OPS and does weight and balance so if you want a boarding card you have to visit the WN employee at the Customer Service counter.

From what I hear WN will be in the D gates and FL will operate out of the other gates for the first year. Anyone else especially FL in ATL hear anything thanks wnfg

FL has a cargo office off of Loop road, the new southwest cargo office is just a few door downs from where the Air Tran one is off of loop road just past FedEx.

that old office must just have the Airtran Logo on it....Airtran has not
shipped cargo in sometime.
