I wonder if a smart move on behalf of Qatar could be to upgrade ARN from 332 to 777-300? Cargo loads are healthy and that could give them an advantage before EK moves in (rumored from october 2012).

From February onwards, the 6-strong fleet of 3-class B772ER aircraft is planned for the route and a further upgrade is planned for October, when the B773ER will be deployed. I presume that a second daily flight will be in the cards as early as S13.

No info about a possible start up of Stockholm on behalf of EK?

I believe that Stockholm and Barcelona are EK's two top targets for new service in Europe and that we could see both added to the schedule in the course of 2012. Brussels has also been mentioned but with the planned frequency increase and capacity upgauge at Amsterdam, I find it unlikely that the Belgian capital would be added this year.

I think OSL would be a potential target due to the successful middle eastern routes with DY and QR.

How does EK determine flights which get upgraded in terms of capacity ? Do they assign 772/77L/773/77W last minute according to bookings or operational constraints ?

Not quite as varied as that site makes it seem.

Looking at the regs, it has been either A6-EB*/EC*/EG* (77W) or A6-EW*(77L)

So no 772 or 773 (non LR/ER). However, the switch between 77L and 77W seems random.

GVA is a substantially more premium market than CPH, especially from the Middle East, and they will always send aircraft with their most up-to-date premium products.

I have heard it should be a mix of 772 and 773, but in the first weeks of January, it's been the 773 daily!
