I was plane-spotting at LAX today and noticed a 744 in UA's hangar area resting that had "UNITED" (new font) on the side but what looked like an ex-Atlas Air paint job at the rear. Is UA leasing a B744 tempoarily or is this a special paint scheme half way done?
Thoughts?

I edited my original post to clarify that they were ex-UA planes.

Hmm it is just a charter plane though, albeit i wish they did something like ATA did, and design the tail a bit.

I will add that Atlas has three varieties of passenger aircraft. The gold 744s posted above that fly for Sonair, as well as pax 744s and 763s in their regular livery.

No, it is a UA aircraft that was leased to Atlas but is now back on UA property. It is being used for charters, mostly military charters.
