I appreciate all the work people have put in to keeping track of all these changes.

Can someone go through and list what the ultimate fleet will look like?
Can you list each type in the fleet, the IFE, the seating arrangements, and anything else that will set each subfleet apart?
What services will each offer and what markets are they geared for? For example, all the various B752 and B772 types that will be found.

Next, what does "IPTE" specifically stand for? I have seen this listed on the forum to mean "Includes Weber 5751 cloth seats with power ports in 3-3-3 configuration and new larger PTVs with AVOD and winged headrests." But I am wondering what the letters IPTE stand for.

Last, I have seen it mentioned that a STC is required for E+, why is a STC needed for a seating configuration?

Thanks,
Ryan

GECAS has announced that it will lease out 12 Boeing 737-500s to Sriwijaya Air, of which all are coming off-lease from United Airlines. Does anyone know which 12 are lsf GECAS? The first aircraft has already left the UA fleet...

N27610 0610 Boeing 737-524(WL)

Which leaves 11 aircraft to go... Planespotters.net lists the following (9) aircraft as lsf GECAS, is this correct?

N17614, N16617, N17619, N19621, N13624, N32626, N17627, N14629 & N59630

E+ 73G
3717 exited MCO ferry 6855/16 May
3733 to Exit MCO Flight 1526/19 May

Looks like 3704 is in for E+, but can't confirm MCO exit

Any update on 739ER 37437, in HOU for DFW hail damage repair - last update was to be several days ago?

Anyone know if 739ER new delivery 68452 is getting DTV in MCO? It doesn't look link any 738 or any other 739 units are in MCO for DTV at this point.

738 3529 is still showing no DTV, no IFE and no E+. However, it was ferried MCO-IAH 5/14. It may have been in line behind 3531, which didn't get the E+ treatment as advertised.

Wondering if 735 3619 is in HOU for exit package instead of C check/E+. It's one of the 735's shown on Reply 4 as a return to leaser.

I appreciate all of your efforts keeping us informed!

So I am kind of lost on what aircraft : Does 0529, 0529, 0530 and 0531 have DTV? I know they are the BSI aircraft

Regarding 3437 I remember reading from the last thread there is no date of exit yet.

Does this mean the 735's are leaving soon? I believe a few of the 735 that could leave have E+

738/739: In general, only DTV aircraft have E+, (except several Sky interior aircraft, which have not received the STC for E+)

Specifically, according to my records these aircraft do NOT have DTV
739ER 3443 & 3444 (non-Sky)
739ER Sky 3446-3451 - (3445 is only Sky with DTV. 3452 new delivery may be getting DTV, but that would not be consistent with the rest of the new deliveries.)

738 3260-3277 Mid Cabin lav aircraft
738 3519-3527 Non-Sky
738 Sky: 3529. (3528, 3530 & 3531 have DTV installed)

735 ALL
753 ALL

It is similar to the website about sCO aircraft a while back, but the database covers both mainline and regional aircraft. https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/

I though 3443 and 3444 were the first delivers with the sky interior?

437 ETR is listed as TBD .. pending parts and such I presume..
621 and 624 are the only E+ 735s I know of so far.. so I presume they will be the last to go..
860 is listed as 'E + Pilot' in LAX

Yes, looking at Seat guru and the new seat map for flight 46/19May, there is a right side row 8 D-E-F.

On seat guru it shows a Galley that takes up what would have been 7 & 8 D-E-F. The Galley must have a reduction in depth by about 20 inches, to retain 3 seats then the 5 rows of E+ on that side can each have 4 inches extra legroom. So, the aircraft just loses 3 seats in total. Row 14 is gone, but row 8 gets DEF seats.

Of notice is that the UA.com seat maps show one lav on the left side behind row 32 A-B-C while SeatGuru shows 2 lavs. Not sure which is correct.

N68452 , latest 739ER is now in service. United.com shows it does not have IFO or E+.
It looks a bit puzzling as United.com shows it flew its first flight from EWR May 19, but arrived in EWR on Flight 6850 as a ferry from BOS. The aircraft was in MCO, I presume.
Also, under flight amenities (Flight 4/21May MSY-IAH), the aircraft information is that of a 50 seat CRJ.

I came back to HOU today on WN241 from BNA, a 735, and they are still working on the hail damaged 739. The leading edge fairing of the vertical stabilizer as well as well as the tail cone w//apu and horizontal stabilizers looked to be under repair.

This is what I show in my database for active 73K fleet as of today leased from GECAS:

620
623-627
631-633

You've listed 9 737-500s as lsf GECAS, plus the first one that went (610), that's 10... I see that 614 & 617 are leased from Castle Harbour, which I believe is a company of GECAS? Could those be our 12 going to Sriwijaya?

Is Planespotters.net wrong with regard to the owners of 619, 621 & 630?

73G #3719 Ferried MCO-IAH 5/21 in E+

It looks like #3704 ferried MCO- IAH 5/23 with a E+ seat map. And, by deduction of available aircraft, #3750 ferried IAH-MCO 5/23.

753 #3871 was in LAX over two days, but seats map don't show E+. Too bad. It looked like LAX could be E+ing the 753 - we'll have to wait to see. There are a couple 753s with sked RONS at MCO coming up as well as LAX.

I realize this is just me being somewhat picky, but shouldn't the 764 fleet show 9/16 completed as to E conversion, rather than 9/12?

They haven't announced what they will be doing with the 4 J-Light 764s...I think it's safe to assume that they will get Y+ but there is noth9ing official.

Wasn't that block of 25 numbers for the 727-224Adv fleet?

So Boeing 757-300's 3871 and 3866 do have E+ as it appears they slipped under the radar from our tracking.

I have been watching the 753s and was to announce 3866 today. As for 3871, it was in for mod, but for some reason on exit flights it was showing non E+ for several flights.
It looks like the ETOPS 753s are being done first, probably sine they will start Hawaiian flying in June. Next aircraft going into LAX that could be in for E+ are 3862 and 3867 the 25th and 3868 the 26th. It looks like a two day cycle, so expect only one or two of these aircraft will get E+ when they arrive at LAX.

73G 3704 must be in E+ and I'm sure ferried MCO-IAH, but has not flown a revenue flight yet.
With 3750 exiting MCO, I don't see another 73G in mod at the moment. It could be that 738 Sky 3529 may be out of DTV mod and moving to E+ mod. With an STC the 3 other Sky 738s could then get E+.

That looks ugly as hell. I think it has more to do with the angle that the photo was taken from. I have seen plenty of Copa Airlines E190s and the look good. It is the same paint job just a different globe. They NEED to move the title closer to the door like. The have it further back like ExpressJet on E145s. It is not looking right on this plane.

Bingo    Why someone thought it a good idea to skip up to 750 instead of just back filling 725 later ( Like they did with the 738 Ships 201-209) .. or just leaving it blank and continuing in numeric sequence..

Believe 529 is only getting LiveTV. Will have toi check. Did see seats with monitors in them ready to be put on the plane. I think these are those newer Pinnacle seats.

Was it that ? IIRC, back when I tracked these things, our 737 Next Gen # 750 arrived around April of 1999.
Our original Continental 727s # 725 and # 750 were long retired by then.
We are missing fleet numbers # 737-749 also. IIRC, these were the aircraft we gave to COPA back when we owned 49% of them. Could be wrong about the dates.

Add 753 #3867 to E+ list. Scheduled Flight 40 28/May LAX-EWR with E+ seat map.

Next one in looks like either #3868 or #3869, both showing LAX on 5/27.

I thought there was a 727 still operating in Micronesia that carried the #725, but it's been a while and I'm not sure.

I dont have internal info as I am a teen, but i was board!

That's how I see it, with only FlightAware and UA.com being my guides. The other possible aircraft as of a couple of days have had routing changes. With a 2 day cycle, I'll be looking for another LAX RON on the 29th.

# 3868 is scheduled in after # 3867 for E+.

# 3721 is in MCO for E+.

Then # 3722 is scheduled after # 3721.

What kind of aircraft do UA/CO use on the Hawaii routes?

I m getting to HNL by AC, but the AC return option includes a 5.5 hr layover in YVR (first flight to YOW only departs at 1030am - the flight from HNL gets in at 5 am).

The current options are either UA 777 or 767 via ORD or (presumably) CO 777 or 767 via EWR.

Problem is - its going to be a Y class trip. What kind of IFE do the 'updated' aircraft have? Is there any form of catering (ORD and EWR are 7hr30m + flights). What kind of 767s does CO use for HNL (764s or 762s?). My understanding is that the 764s have AVOD while the 762s are non-AVOD.

Do the UA aircraft have any IFE? On their 767s or 777s? Do they have separate domestic and international configurations for these aircraft (I assume they do in J, but what about Y).

Also, what are the paid upgrade options? Do UA/CO offer last minute upgrades (to J, not E+) at HNL? And what kind of ballpark figures do they use?

So Boeing 757-300's 3871 and 3866 do have E as it appears they slipped under the radar from our tracking.

Show # 3866 and # 3867 as E+ with 24/189, but the stuff shows # 3871 with 24/192 . Not showing # 3871 with E+.

3871 looked like it was in for E+ and exited with seat maps showing non E+. However, I think that was an error and all flights yesterday through tomorrow show E+ seat maps on UA.com.

The current options are either UA 777 or 767 via ORD or (presumably) CO 777 or 767 via EWR.

The ORD flights would be with Pre merger UA equipment and EWR flights with Pre merger CO equipment. EWR is a 764 with personal TVs, AVOD only on internaltional aicraft. Check this page and go to the 767-400 - your flight to EWR would probably be with a High Density seating plan. https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/mainline-fleet-tracking or
http://www.united.com/web/en-US/cont...nflight/aircraft/767/400ER/v3.aspx

Most likely the HNL-ORD flight would be with this aircraft: http://www.united.com/web/en-US/cont.../inflight/aircraft/777/200/v5.aspx

Looks like 3722 is ferrying IAH-MCO Flight 6879/29May for E+ or C check and E+

753
3868 is showing a LAX exit on flight 1262/30. Must be E+ , but right now seat map shows non E+ .
Three non-ETOPS 753s are looking to RON at LAX in the next two days. Surprised if they don't complete the ETOPS units first as Hawaii starts soon with 753 aircraft.

Keep checking Flight Aware for aircraft not showing movement
3619 - 753 HOU C Check
674UA - 763 in HKG mod since 2/13 for 2 class intl/lie flat/ winglets
3529 - 738 in DTV mod at MCO - possible E STC aircraft for Sky interior
3704 - 73G we assume has E after C Check in MCO
3437 - 739 in HOU after DFW hail damage
3059 - 764 in HKG for lie flat/E mod - estimate of about 6/11
3051 - 764 in HKG for lie flat/E mod - estimate of about 6/18
3453 - 739 in BFI for new delivery

It must be more than a row as only 3 seats are lost. On the right side of the aircraft, it looks like the galley at the front of Y is being reduced in size as there are no seats lost on that side of the aircraft.

They repitch the right side before the overwing exit rows to get 5 rows of seats DEF to get E+. Not all the seats on that side are E+. No loss of seats doing this.

On the left side before the overwing exit rows, they removed one row of seats ABC and repitched the rest to get 6 rows of E+. So there's just a loss of 3 seats.

No Galleys were harmed in this Mod.

Add 735 #3633 to the list of E+. It was in HOU for a day or so and now flying with an E+ seat map.

73G #3708 had ferried over and back to MCO and is back in service. At this point the seat map shows non-E+, but believe this is in error - will monitor.

#3619 looks like it ferried HOU-IAH today and the Ferry flight 6861/1Jun shows E+
#3632 shows E+ on seat maps - must have gotten to HOU between 5/29 and 6/1.

#3630 shows out of service since 5/31 - last flight shown on flightAware into CLE. Not sure where it is.

A320 Cabin Updates

I have seen a pic of the first A320 that has the new Overhead bins, but I don't know what the aircraft # is.

N475UA (4275) has been at TPA for the last few weeks, and I think it will exit with the new overhead bins...Can anybody confirm this?

It's a bit hard to keep track of the 735 movements between IAH and HOU. There was a ferry this morning and I can't find the aircraft that would be available to fly it.

3619, 3621,3624, 3632 and 3633 have E+.

3612 appeared to have ferried RT to/from HOU, but seat maps show no E+

It looks like 3626 ferried to HOU 6/1 - maybe E+ or C check

3630 I believe ferried CLE-IAH, but don't know any more about that aircraft not showing operations since 5/31.

738 3529 shows an MCO exit on flight 1200/05Jun. Should have DTV and maybe E+, but seat maps show neither at this point.
3527 may be next one into MCO for DTV on jun 4.

73G 3704 hasn't flown since 5/15.

I had this problem a while ago trying to figure out if the aircraft had E+ and the aircraft did. I would follow up on this later this week to see if E+ is shown.

Not sure why they didn't go with the common interior look which I believe is to be Continental's - bulkhead, sidewalls and seat coverings. Perfect time to do the switch out don't you think? Maybe the reports that Continental's interior is the standard going forward is incorrect. But still, this isn't even pre-merger United's final interior look with the early 90's hospital bulkheads...

Why do they have those latched openings on the dividers, which I always wondered on PMCO's 772s and not on other aircraft?

Anyone know if UA ever plans on standardizing the seating on the A320s? AFAIK, all the 320s that didn't fly as Ted still have 6 less seats than the ex-Teds. Seems like something that should have been done a long time ago.

#3626 is to ferry HOU-IAH Flight 6853/4Jun and make up Flight 1128 with E+

#3604 appears to be ferrying this morning IAH-HOU
#3612 is scheduled on Flight 1621/4Jun. Believe this aircraft ferried HOU-IAH, but now flight shows non E+. Will verify later

Does anyone know if 772 #3007 is still in MUC. It looks like it cancelled Flight 107/2Jun and FlightAware shows the aircraft hasn't moved.

Since we now know that the Q400s won't be leaving the fleet and the ones that are getting parked will only be out of service temporarily, shouldn't they be factored back into the percentages?

Those geting parked are out of service with Colgan and United, so are not in the active fleet. They will be returned in a listing under the new operator when that occurs.

It looks like the press is on to complete the 735 aircraft. Can you believe the aircraft that we thought wouldn't get E+ may be the first fleet completed?
#3612 is now showing E+
There have been several ferries IAH-HOU-IAH with 735 in the past three days
#3604 to ferry HOU-IAH 6/5
#3625 ferrying tonight IAH-HOU
# 3630 is probably in HOU

Note, the 73G E+ project looks like its stalled as may be the 753 fleet. 3851 still in LAX and 3704 still in MCO. Does 3851 need an STC as it is the first non-ETOPS unit to be converted?

NOTE: 772 #3007 ferried MUC-EWR and is back in service

QFATWA - 764 Lie flats should be 9/12 to match E+

Sky 738 #3529 is sked for flight 1200/05Jun. It should have DTV and hopefully E+. Seat maps not indicating either yet. If it has DTV/E+, then I suspect the drive will be on to E+ the 3 Sky 738s, (all have DTV). Non-Sky 3527 showing into MCO 6/4 - hopefully for DTV.

So 3851 is going to fly to HNL either tomorrow or the next day...Could it become ETOPS certified, and isn't it requited to be ETOPS certified to fly from LAX-HNL? And, could that mean that all 757-300s will become ETOPS?

I don't know if there are any shots of the new Sky Interior 738s that HAVE DirecTV or not so here are a couple. I think these are the same seats that the refit 764s have? These were taken with my phone so they aren't the best.

I don't think you'll see the CO Build 753s in Hawaii soon. The first day of LAX-HNL with 753s has 3868, 3863, 3865 and 3861 (all TZ builds). ETOPS is required.

While 3851 looks like its in for E+, I don't think that indicates its getting ETOPS. However, 3851 has been in LAX longer than a normal E+ conversion, so there is a chance it could be getting ETOPs, but maybe someone can advise us what that takes to accomplish.

My guess is that Hawaii can be run with a sub fleet (12 of 21 753s). Of course, scheduling would be easier if all 753s had ETOPS.

735 E+
Add 3604
Looks like 3625 and 3630 at at HOU.

Sky 738 #3529 was in MCO for 2 weeks and I think it was assumed it was getting DTV and maybe E+. It's flown for a couple of days and UA.com shows it has neither DTV or E+ on any flights flown. Does anyone know about 3529??

I did not sit in them, I just took a walk through to check it out. It definitely looks better than the "1st Gen" DTV cabins. Some people won't like the plastic backing but it brightens the cabin up a lot. Besides, are you sitting on the seat backs?

Thanks - I couldn't confirm 3630 or 3617 as they must both be in HOU.
I had thought 3612 was E as it was in IAH June1-4, and assumed ferried over and back to HOU. However, seat maps show non E .

Today is the first day of 753 service on LAX-HNL. Four 753s today. two enroute now and two later today. Seat maps on UA.com show first 2 full and last two with a few seats each.

I don't understand what you mean; the 753 has done this route for several summers (two, I think at least). I've been on it a few times, and we've neither made fuel stops, nor landed in the oil patch around Houston....!
And we've gone out full PAX as well (nightmare on a 753.... boarding took longer than the flight time   ), though I obviously have no knowledge of whether any bags were left behind.

3059 is showing on flight 72 HNL-SFO 9Jun after HKG lie flat/E+ mod
With 3 remaining, 3052, 3054 and 3055, it looks too early to tell if one will head to HKG. Maybe the mods (2 units at a time) will hold off or be reduced to one until Fall.

Indeed, and we DID sometimes leave people behind on this one. Particularly in the IAH-ANC direction, I might add. As an elite, it never affected me, but still... bummer.
Always made me wonder if a -700 would have been a better choice; blocking three rows of seats in coach on an -800, versus taking out a -700 full... not sure how the metrics of that would work out.

Anyhow. Glad to see the 753 being updated.

Always made me wonder if a -700 would have been a better choice; blocking three rows of seats in coach on an -800, versus taking out a -700 full... not sure how the metrics of that would work out.

The 738s were routinely restricted to 16/120 IAHANC vs 73G cap of 12/106 (12/112 pre E+), so the 738 still did a bit better.

I'm very surprised by those numbers! I wouldn't have thought the -724 would need to be restricted at all.... Same wing, similar fuel capacity. Learn something new every day!

Just noticed this flight out of VCV on June 7 as well as some previous flights: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/ASH3720

Could these be Mesa CR7s getting new paint, or was that work being done elsewhere?

3059 is now enroute HKG-HNL ferry flight 6849 6/9, due into HNL 0130 6/9

763 (2 class international - first one)
674UA is scheduled HKG-ORD ferry flight 6865 6/9, Sked into ORD 1230 6/9

I don't see a replacement into HKG for either the 764 mod or 763 mod lines, but noted
664UA flew into HNL 6/4 and Flight Aware has not shown a departure. Could it be in HKG?

The -724 full cap is 12/106 (with E+) -824 is 16/138 (E+). The ANC restriction for the -8 was normally 16/120 with adjustments +/- as needed.

Any word on why this is taking so long? Are they looking at a possible write-off? I understand the damage was pretty rough, but then, obviously they were able to obtain a ferry permit to bring her home...

I presume it's a case of waiting on parts.. a number of internal structures that are rarely replaced were damaged and spares aren't available on short notice.. a write-off would have happened long before now I would hope. ETR is still TBD.

3066, Pacific config 764 looks like it ferried HNL-HKG 6/8. Does anyone know if its getting heavy MX or might be in for International reconfig. We've questioned whether the Pacific 764s would be reconfigured, knowing they are currently on very efficient HNL rotation from IAD/EWR/IAH/SFO.

We'll have to see. At this point it looks like all active 764s are flying on the 14th.

It could be the line will be reduced to one from two due to the summer season.

It's been posted the 763ER line will have two lines and running just over 4 weeks per aircraft. That seems aggressive, but hope it's true.

Maybe UA has people for 3 mod lines for 767s and now it could be 2 PMUA and 1 PMCO. At this point it appears 664UA is in SFO and the rest of the 763ERs going to mod appear to be operating normally.

When you say old Business Class seats, do you mean the old recliners that are currently in the 772s that haven't been updated yet? Are these going to be added to the domestic fleet? Have we heard any news about updates for the domestic 772s?

Does that mean sinks you can actually wash your hands in? The addition of changing tables is over due, I started avoiding 757s (one of my favorite planes) because it was such a hassle to change my baby on the floor of the galley...and you can't wash your hands in the sinks without touching the sink...

3 of the 777s remaining in the old non-IPTE longhaul layout will be converted to this new configuration along with all 6 domestic 777-222s, for a total of 9 ships. It will involve an undisclosed number of refurbished former United Business recliner seats (the previous generation, also p.s. business) at 2-2-2 abreast with 55" pitch. Y will also receive new seats and a 3-3-3 arrangement. No PTVs, but these birds will have new streaming content and satellite wi-fi. My guess is they'll move some interior fittings around to get the configuration to 30J, although 24J would fit within the existing cabin footprint.

The speculation is that the rest of the 767-400s in the high density configuration (76H) will be converted to the international standard and these 777s will go into service on HNL-SFO/ORD/IAH/IAD/EWR/GUM, GUM-NRT, plus select domestic turns.

What is the international standard? Like the other 767-400s that have already converted?

Correct. 39/203 with flat beds in J, AVOD/power throughout. There is no confirmation on the 76H rumors however, but it is a logical conclusion given the 3 additional 777s to be converted to this 'longhaul domestic' configuratiion.

I'm sure that's the point. 764 at 39Lie flat/203 total 242. The speculation may be because 1.) another site shows possibly 3 PMUA 772 going domestic config and 2.) a Pacific 764 ferried to HKG.

When you come down to it, the Pacific config has only 14 more seats (7 if you took out a row for E+) Doesn't seem to be dense enough to have a separate config. There would be more commonality if the 764 had one config and the 772 flew most of the HNL flights. The additional cost would be the four 764 reconfig costs as the 772s were expected to be due an IPTE upgrade.

So, do we think that the sUA narrowbodies are being left in the dust as far as IFE goes because of the pending 737MAX order, which will (presumably) replace the sUA Airbusses and sUA757's?
Or do we think UniCon Holdings isn't seeing enough revenue from sCO LiveTV installations?

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'm sure someone at HQ figured out the cost of doing a complete overhaul vs how much more time these planes have left and the cost just doesn't at up.

Here is a recent quotes from UA CFO:
...But he said there are clear benefits from a fleet composed primarily of planes from one maker.

"It helps from a maintenance perspective. It helps from a scheduling perspective," Rainey told Reuters in an interview at the company's downtown Chicago headquarters.

A common fleet type -- featuring many similarly sized airplanes with identical seating capacity -- cuts the chances that passengers will be displaced if the airline needs to take a plane out of service for unscheduled maintenance, he said...
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...dcontinental-idUSBRE84800020120509

With the unrelenting CO consistency coming over the new UA, I can see them getting the airline down to one narrow body type eventually. I wouldn't be the least surprised in 10 years out they end up going with something like 737RS/787/777NG

Add 3629 to the E list. In HOU now and sked on fight 1219/15 with E map
Looks like next one in may be 3606

763
It looks like both 664UA and 665UA are in SFO according to Flight Aware. Anyone know if a ferry to HKG is coming for these?

772
In an employees newsletter it state the 772 E conversion is to start this month. Wondering where that will take place. 3002 has been in EWR according to Flight Aware since 6/11. Maybe the 764 line will go to one to get the 772 E conversions done.

739
Do we have a revenue service date for 3545? I don't think it will have E+ or DTV right away.
3443 may still be in SEA after cancellation of a flight on 6/13. Anyone know why?

753
3851 still in LAX. If this is conversion to ETOPS, will this aircraft be the STC unit? Will the remaining 9 take so long to convert?

Anyone have any info on the 787 seating layout?

I hear UA has finally confirmed the "dreaded" 3-3-3 layout instead of the 3-2-3 layout some of us were hoping for. If true it will feel tight for sure considering the 787 is narrower than a 777.

I also heard there will be less E+ seats than originally forecast.

Yes, it's 3-3-3.

It;'s been out a couple of weeks. 36/72/111=183 At 39.3%, highest E+ percentage of total Y of any two class international aircraft and the 744. Less E+% than the 763 and 772 PMCO 3 class birds.

Here is some info posted in another group from a f/a (LASSW) who worked the reconfigured 767 ...
Flew the prototype 767ME (former MD) from ORD-SFO for its proving run. I had Scott Corkey (the guy who designed the interior) onboard and have lots of good info to share. 14 (ALL) 767MD will be turned into the ME by January. ALL Airbus aircraft will be "tedized" removing closets and forward aft galley modules...just like our current 320D. 2nd oven will return to F and 2 ovens will be returned to Y. I think he said the conversion will start next year. DirectTV or inseat video will NOT be added to Airbus or non-PS 757s at this time. 757s will have complete refresh, including new lavs (with changing tables). Only PS will get inseat video. 3 current 3 cabin 777s will be converted to "high density" 2 cabin, and be updated along with the 6 777A aircraft currently in the fleet, using our "old" S-UA business seats for premium and new 3-3-3 seats in economy. They will be used on high density, low yield routes like GUM-HNL and ORD-HNL. All other 777s will remain 3 cabin IPTE.

Flight Aware shows 3851 on Flight 12/17 out of LAX. It's not shown on a Hawaii flight, so ETOPS can't be confirmed and UA.com doesn't show any aircraft on Flight 12 now.

#3855 shows LAX this evening - maybe E+, then operating to MCO on the 18th for DTV?

That's interesting on DTV for the 753s. We have been wondering if the long LAX mod on 3851 would include ETOPS, which could possibly indicate all the 753s would become ETOPS. 3851 on UA.com is showing a LAX on Flight 1151/15Jun LAX-EWR. Right now the seats maps don't show E+.
Anyone know if it's ETOPS?

In that case, with Hawaii flying, is DTV a great idea? Can DTV show taped movies/etc. as the satellite signal won't work?

It would make sense to put DTV on domestic 753s, but how about the ETOPS units? If the proper mix of ETOPS 753s were in the fleet for Hawaiian ops, then two fleets could be operated on separate routings and IFE matched to service. Maybe a proper mix of ETOPS 753s includes a couple of the non-ETOPS ones to be converted as obviously, you'd need some ability to cover an ETOPS 753 that might be out of service.

There are ~8 channels of pre-recorded video on all of the DTV equipped aircraft....just like the 3-class 763s in Y the movies/videos show on a loop.

No there are still 3 lavs on the UniTED version of the A320...no closet however.

That actually is a great idea for the Hawaiian/Beach market flights...

Sorry, I didn't make my point complete. The A320 standardization was announced quite a long time ago, should be done over the next 12-18 months Direct TV not being added was part of the WiFi announcement.

The 767 conversions were announced not long after the merger.

The PS 757's are being completely refurbished. Also announced just after the merger.

I've not seen anything about the remainder of the 757's being refurbished. Several have been returned to owners as
the leases have come up for renewal. 737-900ER's will replace some of the fleet.

All of the 777s, both ER and B models were supposed to be done with 3 class IPTE interiors. Only the 6
domestic aircraft were to remain in 2 class. I've not seen anything to change this plan.

Why not just take 3 of the yet to be refitted 13 and convert those that were scheduled for 3 class to 2 class?

I am very confused!

This is what they are going to do. Take 3 of the non IPTE configurations and put them into the Domestic configuration which will also get a refreshed interior to fly the Hawaii routes.

From reviewing aircraft now operating, I'm pretty certain the aircraft is 671UA.

3851 has exited LAX after 18 days. Seat maps don't show E+ and aircraft not on a Pacific route, so ETOPS can't be verified.

Add 3727 to the list - exiting MCO 6/19 Flight 1689 with E+ map
Looks like 3730 is next one into MCO 6/19

753
3855 looks like it's in MCO for DTV
3851 - can someone confirm what's going on with 3851? E+, ETOPS, other mx at LAX? Been flying a couple of days after 18 days in LAX. So far no E+ maps, no HNL trips.

772
Guessing 3002 is STC bird for E+ - showing in EWR since 6/11 - employee newsletter said E+ was to be done in June.

735
3613 shows in IAH, but no ferry shown to HOU.

No ETOPS, no E+.

Looked like a heavy check, C-check. Some landing gear and actuator changes too.

Normally I'd expect a 735 (FlightAware can be wrong), but the 735s w/o E+ are not in IAH This morning.

Does HOU do mx work on 739s? Could be the new 739 #3454 or could UA be doing E+ on the non-DTV aircraft knowing it will be a while to get all aircraft into DTV? However, that would probably require an additional STC and there are really two fleets remaining - Sky (9) and non-sky (2).

764
One mystery may be solved. #3066 is scheduled HKG-HNL ferry flight 6849/21 Jun. Obviously, 3066 was not in HKG long enough for be converted to 2 class international. The seat map for Flight 72/21 HNL-SFO doesn't show any configuration change or E+ upgrade so the Pacific aircraft appear to be staying in that configuration.

Oops, of course, now that I think of it HOU did many of the 738 E+ conversions and those aircraft had DTV installed.

3002 is flying 116/21 HKG-EWR and has an E+ seat map. The aircraft has not operated since 6/11 and must have moved from EWR to HKG.
This is the first 772 with E+ and it looks like HKG may do them one at a time since 1 extra 772 is in HKG now. If the work can be done in 36 hours, it would just take 21 more days to do the fleet if rotated through HKG.
3005 is now in HKG from 117/19Jun EWR-HKG.

3730 is sked Flt 1176/22 from MCO with E+

764
3063 is enroute HNL-HKG. Pacific Config, replaces 3066 in HKG which was there for about 12 days without any seating changes.

772
It appears 3005 will take more than 36 hours to complete as it is not due out of HKG on 6/22. Maybe a two day plus job for E+.

738
3527, thought to be in MCO for DTV and maybe E+ is exiting MCO 6/21 Flight 1721 after 17 days. At this point the amenities show no DTV and the seats show no E+. Will monitor for changes.

If you are speaking about the ones with 20F seats they were set up for EWR-West Coast flights. I think there are still 18 of them left in the fleet. They are in the process of reconfiguring them to 16/138...none have DTV just overhead video.

DL does still have a handful of RJs out there in the old livery (or they may have the new colors and nobody's confirmed it yet)...but agreed that they moved quickly on the rebranding process. UA seems to care more about consolidating around the United name (not that dissimilar to what DL with with NW before bothering with planes that already say "Delta" on the side). Of course, that's just my opinion based purely on observation.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole DL Connection fleet is in "Onward & Upward" colors by now.

Interesting, I was guessing they were a CoMic thing.

772 3001 in HKG mod as 3021 exits today (HKG time) with E+. With standard mod time, next one in should be 3003 (117/29), but that's an early estimate.

73G 3706 looks like it had trouble in SNA and cancelled 6/20. Maybe it moved to LAX for MX and maybe E+ while there??

753 3865 was in LAX for almost 3 days and is now flying again, but seat maps do not show E+.

It looks like the 772 E+ mods may be moving faster. 3003 Flew 117/29 and is sked according to United.com on 116/3. That's one day quicker than the previous several 772s. If this is true and the new norm, there would be a converted aircraft every other day from HKG, and completion then estimated 8/4.

3022, flying 117/1 is now enroute into HKG mod. Estimated out Flight 116/05 Jul.

Still not seeing an exit flight for 3707, 73G in MCo since 6/29 for E+.

As always, you'll have to check your flight status at united.com. They list that information on the website.
No one here can predict it for you- Continental (er, United) doesn't dedicate certain aircraft to certain routes, so until you hit the three day barrier, your guess is as good as ours.

763ER
669UA ferried 7/1 SFO-HNL-HKG.

This places 3 PMUA 763s in HKG 2 class international mod as the earliest I estimate 671UA out is 7/22 and 668UA 7/28 . 7/1 I believe UA started operating 5 more Hawaii round trips with the 753, maybe freeing some 763ER time.

It could be that this third line means the PMCO 764 lie flat mod line may be interrupted to get some of the PMUA birds completed. At this time the 764 line in HKG is just heavy maintenance on Pacific configured aircraft, 3063 should be exiting shortly.

UA's website is accurate with their seat maps per tail number.
HOWEVER, fleet assignments change often before the actual departure, so you can always hope for that!

There are over 180 738 and 739 PMCO units out there. The retro jet is not in VCV, but I don't have time to check Flight Aware to see which aircraft is/are not active to point out which may be in VCV. Paint jobs are only good for so long and some 738s are 14 years old, which is older than the life of a paint job. More recently, 738s were sent to AMA for UA title changes and were there long enough for full repaints.
What's the deal with the retrojet issue. There are two retrojets flying, the UA stars and bars and the CO Blue skyways. Why should one or both be repainted? If the Blue Skyways should be repainted since CO no long exists, then why not keep the newest Blue tulip paintjob as the UA retojet and repaint the stars and bars??

Since more than half the 3-class fleet has been modified, its easier for me to list the planned NON IPTE markets instead.

According to the threads here, there hasn't been a new 777 converted to IPTE in over three months. Since 3/26/2012, the report has been only 32/46 converted. That included relatively slow traffic months of April and May, when I would have thought aircraft could be pulled out of service for conversion more easily than during peak travel in summer. What conversion pace will there be during summer now?

Slow but progressive. There is some slack in the 777 fleet for UA to afford pulling an aircraft out of service.

I don't see any more conversions of the sUA 777's until the fall. It does appear UA is stepping up the conversion of the "ghetto" 763's to the 2 class set up with winglets.

At mid-year, we have added Economy Plus seating to 235 aircraft and are three-quarters of the way to completing the project on the former CO fleet. Starting with the next delivery in September, all our new Boeing 737-900ERs will be delivered with Economy Plus already in place, as will our new Boeing 787s.

We expect all the CO Boeing 777-200s will feature Economy Plus by August, while the Boeing 767-400 fleet will be complete by December. The Boeing 757 fleet should be finished in early 2013 and the 737s by that summer.

We ended the first half of 2012 with 86.5 percent of our combined mainline fleet in either the new livery or a special livery, such as Star Alliance or “retro.”

Repainting is complete on the entire CO mainline fleet of 339 aircraft and on three-fourths of the UA mainline fleet, or 261 out of 355 aircraft. We expect to paint the remaining narrowbodies by the end of this year and wrap up the program with the last of the widebodies in 2013.

Per internal memo dated yesterday, effective Oct.1 IAH/IAD/EWR/SFO-HNL will switch from sCO B767-424 to sUA B-777-222.
Could that mean that the 4 "Pacific configuration" 767's used on these routes may actually be converted to the lie flat version as suggested before?
The same memo also stated that IAD-MUC will go to sCO B-767.

No decals invloved. Why would they spend the money to ferry aircraft to a PAINT shop to have a decal put on? And some of the aircraft had been due for new painthad been repainted.

Don't see that on the United Daily, which provides some of this info. However, it makes sense with the talked about conversion of I believe 3 of the remaining 4 772A birds in old international config. It's all about seat count from what I see, but obviously a reduction in international F demand and need for more seats to HNL are probably involved. The 764 has a slight range advantage over the 772A, but UA must feel EWR-HNL can be operated with the 772A.

772 old international 258
764 new international 242 - only 16 fewer seats (sure there's no First Class)

764 Pacific 256
772A High density 348 - about 90 extra seats (there may be a reduction of 6 to 12 if 55 inch pitch traded out for domestic F seats).

Net gain would be at least 65 seats for conversion of each pair of 764 Pacific to International and 772A Old international to high density.

At this point every day 764 #3063 remains in HKG is a better chance this aircraft will come out with 2 class international configuration. Using the previous 764 Pacific aircraft HKG maintenance visit, 3063 should have been out of HKG on 7/2 or 7/3, so its 8 or 9 days overdue at this point.

I think that has to be the plan.

Doesn't make sense to keep 4x 764 in this configuration.

3016 exited 7/14
3008 exited HKG 7/16
3018 scheduled to exit HKG 7/18

735 #3631 in HOU for maintenance, E+ or fleet exit???
73G #3707 still in maint for E+, since 6/29
739 #3437 still has not returned to revenue service after hail damage repair and repaint
753 #3855 still in MCO - 1st 753 with DTV and probable E+ - STC required
764 #3063 still in HKG - every added day looks more like a Pacific to International reconfiguration instead of being in HKG for routine maintenance.

Does anyone have an update on Airbus 319 & 320 bin conversion?

I believe the first one was the retro jet, N475UA.
A post on FlyerTalk states N493UA has new bins - it was out of service 7/5-7/14

Scanning FlightAware, I find other 320 aircraft have been our of service and may have been converted. they are:
N457UA 6/4-7/11
N458UA 6/1-6/28
N459UA ferried to LCQ 7/5
N476UA 6/13-6/26
N477UA 6/23-7/6
N478UA 6/25-
N483UA 6/19-6/24
N494UA 6/21-6/28 and 6/10-6/18

There were numerous other ferries ORD-LCQ according to FlightAware between 6/28 through 7/17 with both 319 and 320 equipment.

Any help is appreciated.
