I've just realized and noticed that dozens of SWISS aircraft still contain the former Cube logo and typeface. Considering the official reveal and painted livery of the "revised" A333 was months ago, how come we have not seen any other aircraft painted in this revised livery?

Is LX being very slow in the rebranding, or are they having second thoughts about the new livery (or both)?

I'm guessing it's the former. It is very rare for a company to do an about-face on a branding refresh, considering that it can be a PR nightmare. It is known to happen, though.. AI comes to mind, but that is probably not the best example to cite.

Since the livery change is not that big, the new livery will be implemented in the 'normal' painting cyclus of the aircraft.
This way it takes longer before all aircraft are repainted, but at no extra cost.
The Swiss are not known for making premature decisions so you can easily rule out 'second thoughts'

I recall having seen UA aircraft at ORD in three liveries, side by side. Although my memory could be faulty.

That seemed to be a common sight with the orange, gray, and blue liveries. Now, the Globe is taking over to the dismay of the Tulip-boys.

Quite probable.

Battleship Grey was replaced on 2/2004 by the Blue Tulip and the last UA mainline plane was in Battleship Grey until 2/2012.

The current United livery (globe on the tail) started appearing in 10/2010 for sCO planes and 12/2010 for sUA planes.

So between 12/2010 and 2/2012 there were United planes running around in 3 liveries.


BTW it looks one of the last BG planes had the same paint job for 12.5 years, so if Swiss uses the same painting schedule UA uses the old scheme might be around a long time.

I doubt 1 in 1000 passengers notices the difference. No reason to take an aircraft out of service for painting for such a minor change until the aircrat is due for other maintenance.

LX did move quickly to rebrand their lounges, advertising, website etc.

Saw RJ100s HB-IXU and HB-IXX in the new colours at LCY last week so there's a re-branding underway. Air France are in the same boat, there's no hurry as the colours are almost identical at first glance.

I was in CLE two weeks ago and I still saw several RJ's with "Continental Express" written on them.
