I was leafing through the November 2012 Travel+Leisure magazine and they had a table compiled by "FlightStats" (whoever that is) showing Airline+Airport, % of flights delayed more than 45 minutes and average delay in minutes of these flights.

Not surprising, EWR is the leader. What IS surprising is that they used the actual airline instead of the mainline legacy that they are masquerading as in presenting their data:

CommutAir/EWR - 22.85% - 64 minutes
ExpressJet EV/EWR - 21.95% - 66 minutes
Colgan Air/EWR - 16.57% - 63 minutes
ExpressJet XE/EWR - 16.27% - 67 minutes

If my interpretive skills are right, these are all "UA" flights, no? Survey period was August 2011 - July 2012.

What I find odd is that they decided to use the D+45 timeframe as opposed to the D+15 mark. That would shed more accurate time on the delays.

But it is also noteworthy to add that the RJs are usually on the short end of the stick when it comes to delaying flights into and out of a hub.

I would suggest looking at www.flightstats.com to actually understand who they are and why they chose to include all regional carriers. Quite a nice site.

Interesting website, though I wish they wouldn't show each of the codeshares as its own individual flight on the airport activity page.

They have a box you can check to hide codeshares. Anyways, from my experience, the worst delays/cancellations are Skywest/SFO.

LGW doesn't tend to be too bad, 10-15 minutes at a hold point is pretty normal, I'd also say LHR, queues for the departure runway can be upwards of 30 minutes.
