Any idea about what time that celebration was going on? Thought I may have seen the airplane afterwards when taxiing in ATL.

Dedication started at 11:00 this morning. I believe it lasted about an hour. I took the photo around 14:00 today. At that time the aircraft was still in bay 10.

Nice move by DL.. Does anyone know if DL repainted the entire a/c and then placed the sticker on?

Probably just placed the sticker on. Why would they repaint?

The particular aircraft was chosen because the paint was in good condition. It got a good cleaning and some wax.

Its not a sticker, but rather painted on.

I love it. Great way to honor the troops and to celebrate freedom. Well done Delta. While I don't agree with the comments in post #8, our country allows this great freedom of expression; a freedom that our brave troops for centuries have fought and died for to protect.

Is this one of the international-configured 757s used for transatlantic ops?

No. This is a domestic ex-song AVOD bird.

Aircraft are powerful symbols and I wish many other airlines would take the trouble to name them.

It is important to note this is a dedication, not an advert or a politically sponsored motif. In that respect it should be applauded and in my view applies equally to American servicemen and women who have fought in all wars through the ages (including against us Brits) from Lexington, Gettysburg, the Marne, Imo Jima, Normandy, Hue and through to the latest Afghan skirmish

In another era this plane might have been named Clipper Freedom

That looks great. I think Delta must have a dozen or so aircraft with something on the nose or painted differently.
Does anyone know how many Delta aircraft have something painted on the nose?
What they are for or whose name?
What type of aircraft they are on?

I agree with you DL WIDGET HEAD and it was appropriate post #8 was deleted. He obviously was not a veteran, and missed the intent of this dedication to everyone who has served in the military services of our country.
I sincerely appreciate the expression and acknowledgment of service to our country for all of us who proudly wore a uniform.
I replaced my military uniform with an airline one and was blessed with a wonderful career in the airline industry for 31+ years, and recognize its sometimes just the little things that make the biggest statement of integrity and good will.
Thank You Delta from a veteran and loyal customer.

Very nice gesture IMO, nothing political about it, they show that they care. I look up to those who are willing to put everything on the line for the rest of us.

I saw this aircraft land this afternoon at FLL. It ferried from ATL to BNA this morning and then brought the Tennessee Titans down to Florida.
