Delta.dumb is no more, it seems! I'm loving the new website. Some of my favorite features so far:

  •    Homepage is laid out well
  •    Dashboard page ("My Delta") shows all of your information and itineraries, etc., in an organized manner
  •    Cool map that shows your past destinations and future ones too (separately)
  •    There's a pie chart that breaks down how you've earned your miles
  •    New seatmaps are FANTASTIC -- it even shows the wing (accurately too... in terms of design and everything!) and how much space that takes up (see below)
  •    When changing your current seat assignment you can see how full F is (basic availability)
  •    You can access aircraft details (and the amazing seatmap) directly from your flight's seatmap
  •    It tells you which 757 config you're on!

Here's what one of the seatmaps looks like:

Others: 320 73H 76L

So far I like it

These will be changing slightly again, they will feature more accurate economy comfort layouts, preferred seats, and actual galley sizes instead of the standard size.

It's not really that different from before. I like it though.

Out of the legacies it is the best. UA needs a new one badly and if US and AA merge we can probably bet they will make a new one eventually.

Why does it say in the thread title on Nov. 11? It rolled out today did it not?

Like I said on the other thread on the same subject, I think even before today Delta.com was better than any other US legacy airline's web site. AA and US are horrible.
I checked out the new site and for some reason I liked the old one better, this one seems cluttered with boxes. But I guess I'll have to get used to it.

As noted they are considerably more accurate, especially in terms of the actual aircraft. The aircraft were done using aircraft CAD drawings. The flight deck windows actually look like the aircraft windows etc. The old ones were just "guesses" as to wing size and location.

No offense but its a seat map. Most people don't care how accurate it is, just that it shows the correct amount of seats.

Unfortunately the seat map for the B764 still shows that there are two lavatories next to the forward galleys in BE class when you are booking a flight. In fact they are both at the rear of the BE cabin. I'm surprised that this hasn't been corrected yet as this mistake was also on the old web site and I have informed DL about this more than once. If you bring up the seat map for the B764 on a flight to LHR for example, it shows this; however if you bring up the seat map in the aircraft section on the web site, it has the correct configuration!

Next DL needs to update the seat maps on the App; for example the B744 still shows the old BE seats, not the new direct-aisle access flat-bed seats.

Contrary to what airliner371 feels about a seat map, trust me it is an important feature when you sit in one for 100K miles of travel per year, and the enhanced features of these seat maps will be very helpful to many.
Overall, I like the new look and functionally with the exception of the SkyMiles log in.....unable to tab through to name.....requires 2 separate entries to enter name and for a display. Needs to be corrected so that you tab through password to name and enter.
It was time for DL to "clean" things up so good job and Thank You from someone who spends a lot of time on it.

Key phrase is "most people." Some people do, especially the frequent flyers and the passengers giving DL lots of business. By improving the seat map, DL has catered to both sets of fliers. The ones who don't really care still get to view the basic seat map, and the ones who care more get their information as well.

DL should be applauded for this, not criticized.

Did they fix any of the underlying technology problems, e.g., award travel booking?

Why on the Flying With Us page, In-Flight Services, is there a photo of Business Elite for the First Class section? Appears DL is misrepresenting the First product.

From what I've heard... no!!!

One of the other changes I saw was that they now ask for a password instead of a PIN. I liked the PIN to be honest since it was short and easy to type in, but a password is of course more secure.

Unfortunately the flight search results page remains as before--garbage. Delta managed to take the great NW website and an underrated DL website and turn them into one big mess.

Too bad they didn't roll those out to the flight results page. For example, the shown wing sizes on those maps are often comically small.

Having played around with the site for awhile, I prefer the simplicity of the previous home page.
- Easier, simpler list of trips
- log in had three fields presented at same time vs two fields and a build to a third page

Was anyone else able to change their password? I tried to change mine to the requested new format and it did not work.

While it's all kind of pretty and fancy, unless the underlying technology was fixed this is all marketing and little substance. A bigger win would have been to fix the booking engine as stated on their latest commercial... and the award booking functionality... stuff that really matters to the customer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm6iyOq0v-Y

See 45 seconds in -- "... investing billions of dollars improving everything from booking to..."

Seems to me the improvements to booking have only included the ability to offer and charge for ancillary fees... not find all flight combinations, best fare for route, awards, etc.

Focus Delta, FOCUS.

Delta still has tooooooo much blank space where information could be added.
Such as: aircraft type on the flight search and trip summary. Why not just show the aircraft type instead of making the user ask for it.

The "Sort By" needs fixed so we can pre select how the user wants flights sorted. That should be added to the main page. It needs to keep that sort type instead of changing back to "Best Match" (whatever that means) every time the page is refreshed.

Search by "Price" or "Schedule", and the "number of stops" should have been added to the main "Book A Trip" panel.
Number of Stops should include a specific limit such as "Non", 1 or 2 instead of showing 2 stop flights when the user only wants Non or 1 stop flights displayed. If you want more then be able to select that option too; when going to Vegas from West Palm Beach (via Atlanta), I like to take the 777 via Los Angeles which is 2 stops.

The seat selector is impressive but too dark inside the airplanes themselves.

On the "Aircraft Types" just leave the selector panel of the all the aircraft open. No need to close it.

Overall, my point is reduce the number of mouse clicks, page refreshes and wasted time spent when searching while adding useful information that is otherwise embedded in extra mouse click panels. Maybe Delta will take the time and effort to make it easier to use.

To "questions" from Australia: per Delta (it worked for me) your password must contain one capital letter. If that doesn't work, call them. The lady was quite helpful to me. Must have been a USA based call center I got.

I like the design and placement of things, but I think they took a step back with some of the fonts. It looks very 90's with the font. I big change for Delta, which has been on the forefront of style and marketing in the last 5 years.

They're talking about domestic, transcon flights, where FC is the same as BE, international.

It was not working very well when I tried at 10Am EST today (Saturday).

Got a lot of "Application Unavailable" messages when trying to look at my upcoming itineraries.

Also, seat assigment change later this evening on one flight segment I could change, but on another it told me "Not available" -- when the seat was very evidently available!

Some clean up needed ...

What can I ask is so bad about US's site? I know the AA one is an unorganized mess and is ancient in terms of UI and layout, but what's wrong with the US site? It seems pretty decently laid out, the ability to see all the flights and possible connections and their prices all at once while searching is great, seat selection is alright, everything is just filling in boxes. It isn't exactly rocket surgery to figure out any airline website really..
