Topic: Etihad To Add More USA Destinations (?)

Mr. Hogan, CEO at EY, stated in this article that within the next few years, EY would like to add a few more cities including cities in California (can only think that would be LAX & SFO) and ATL. Yes ATL, but that is on conditions of agreeing on a code share with DL. That totally makes sense and I wonder if this has to do with the AF/KL partnership with EY. This makes much more sense than the ATL service "proposed" by QR...but hey everyone is welcome in ATL!  http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayi...2012/11/14/etihad-expands/1704353/

Based on O&D numbers, ATL could no doubt support one Gulf carrier, but I have serious doubts about it being able to support two. If EY is going to codeshare and partner with DL, they would be the best fit. But if EY get there first, QR wouldnt last in ATL.

I have flown on EY and I think that's great.. Except EY has always been partnered with AA.

Are we getting to the oversaturation point yet with QR EK and EY?

Almost seems EY is pulling an AS and will parterner with anyone, it is a valid strategy. It is interesting how OW will have significant partnerships with all 3 GCC carriers.

It sure won't be Fresno

It sure lookes like EY is going to enter SkyTeam soon.
Which I personally like a lot.

I know IAH is kinda packed already with QR and EK but EY should definitely try Houston! ... If not, DFW maybe?

So MSP or DTW is a possibility as well (if they end up in Skyteam)??

I'd love to see something beside DL, UA, AA, AS, F9, WN and SY. FI and AC are the only foreign carries around.

I just saw AF is coming in 2013, which if EY comes, that would wonderful!

With TK starting IAH on Apr 1, I can't see much room for EY. I suspect if they were looking at a Texas destination, DFW would be the likely candidate.

Maybe they'll partner with each other and EY will come to SEA?

It's a joke - I'm not serious. EK beat them to SEA, there's not room for another gulf region carrier

If EY is going to codeshare and partner with DL

With DL already flying ATL/DXB, is another route to the region sustainable?

Given that ATL-DXB is mostly connections from other points in the US with DXB as an end point, I think a 787 targeted for ATL O&D to India, the Middle East, and Eastern Africa is well within possible.

However, two gulf carriers plus Delta to DXB is not sustainable from ATL.

This might sound crazy, but what about SJC? Would there be enough SJC-BLR traffic to support a flight?

Now that QR and EY have intimated an interest in ATL, we can probably expect an EK announcement next week. Just look how they burned IAD

I wonder with TK starting service if that has hindered EK restarting a second daily IAH flight. Otherwise I could see EY start IAH taking similar time slots of the previous EK flight. However, I'm not sure if that second flight generated any decent revenue for EK.

Haha, funny but not likely.

Atlanta is not DC nor remotely close when it comes to O&D to that region of the world.
