I was just wandering what we need the 777 for? Is there some big reason or what? I would just like to know!!!!!

Well dude, the 777 is going to eventually replace older birds like the DC-10 and L1011. It's even replacing some routes that used to use 747-200/100 etc. Don't oyu like the 777? C'mon man we gotta have more planes flying to keep up with the times. It's a great airplane, and once you take a flight in it, you wont ask that question anymore. Take a ride in it, and get back to me.

With the advent of the A330/340 family from Airbus and the potential to replace older DC-10s and L1011s, Boeing needed an aircraft that offered capacity between the 767-300 and the 747-400.

Well I think we need the 777 for the same reason we need every other plane that flies. To fly people around! What did you think it was for? to build and buy so people can see it wasting space a terminal? I think not. I think the 777 does what it is designed to do very well and I very much agree with DC10 as that is also what the 777 is for.
