"The 3 remaining 772A model old international configuration aircraft (768, 772, 779 are to be converted into Hawaiian/Domestic configuration to fly IAD/EWR/IAH-HNL."

Do the 772A models have the range for IAD-HNL (4186nm) and EWR-HNL (4312nm)? I thought that the range for these birds was 4200nm.

Boeing's website shows the 772-200 (A) has a range of 5240NM. In comparison, the 764ER, which has been flying for a long time EWR-HNL has a range of 5625NM per Boeing's website.

752 Globe Paint update:
N563UA exited VCV Ferry flight 6874/2Oct
N593UA entered VCV ferry flight 6853/1Oct.

On a side note, N593UA is the only sUA 752 wsith leather seats. The seat map on United.com shows a different configuration 24F, 84E+, 90Y=198. There's no way this aircraft has 16 more seats than the regular 752, especially with 84E+ seats. Does anyone know about this aircraft.

5093 is actually 24F/162Y. When they put the slimline seats in, they were able to add an extra row of seats. The extra row was added at the overwing emergency exits, and they only added 4 seats not 6.

I hope EWR-HNL and IAD-HNL will be operated by two class international 764. Both times I've flown the EWR-HNL-EWR nonstops (2008, 2012) have been on International configured 764s. The flight we took last months was one of the newly reconfigured with the AVOD, made a huge difference on the almost ten hour flight.

Does anyone know what's going on with those 8 ERJ-145 from COEX? Are they likely painted and just not confirmed?

The repainting of the 744 fleet is still very slow, much slower than on all other sub-fleets. Too busy flying?

The seat maps on United.com don't match up. Going to the United website Inflight services>Aircraft>Boeing 757 to look up different versions, it appears 5093 has a row 33 added and all other seats are the same as the regular version. That version is shown as 24F/50E+/114Y= 188.
Looing at flight information for Flight 328/1Oct, the seat map shows totally different numbering and row 7 ABCD, which is in the entry doorway. the E+/Y split looks weird and seat numbers end with Row 35 vs. Row 40.

5093 just went in for paint so we won't see it for at least ten days. I not sure of the E/E+ breakdown, but there are 162 coach seats.

What's going on with N663UA? It's been at GSO since early September.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N663UA

N663UA is a 1998 build 763, it's currently in a three class configuration but it's been rumored that this aircraft is going to be converted to the new international two class configuration.

Looks like it's 670UA as the 666 and 667 are currently in the air on domestic flights as I type this. Assuming that's correct, only 5 left to be converted.

I agree, but haven't seen a ferry of a 763 from SFO or HNL. Did 670UA move to HKG without getting onto FlightAware? Can anyone confirm its in HKG or still in SFO?

By the way, did anyone notice that Micronesian 73G N 13720 ferried GUM-HNL-LAX-AMA 9/27 and is now on the way back to GUM via LAX and HNL. Aircraft was in AMA 7+ days. Wondering if this was for paint - the aircraft is (or was) in Star paint. That seems like a lot of ferry mileage for paint of MX work, which you'd think could be done in HKG.

Not soon enough. Just back from ORD>AMS on an PMUA763 in Y and it was aweful. Poor condition, TV was small and yellowed out, poor padding on the seats, etc. It was a long 9:09.

I know that the 11 788's are to replace the 10 762's that are leaving (5 gone already) and one can only hope that the reconfigured 2 class 763's are to replace the old 763's. All UA's projections are for flat or low international growth ( a route to 3 per year) so we should see some of these phase each other out. New 789's due in 2014 should retire the rest of them.

No Global First seats are being taken out at this time (unless the rumors are true that 3 already converted 772 would become the additional HI aircraft.) The 763's will remain 21 3-class and soon to be 14 2-class from domestic config.

If they did take some out, I don't know that the 767 Global First Seats would fit exactly the same in a 777.

I have nothing to go by other than supposition and inference, but combining the apparent surplus of widebody aircraft as discussed on the IAH-LHR thread with UA's guidance for flat capacity, I'd say there's a decent chance some 744s are about to be retired and replaced with 777s.

I believe one of the newer 763ERs in the IPTE configuration will go to the new 2-cabin configuration some time at the end of the mod run. Ultimately there will be 20 IPTE and 15 J/Y 763ERs, with the 2-cabin birds to stay for the long haul. The IPTE ships will be progressively retired starting in a few years, from what I understand.

The 744 utilization rate has been high, and it was always the plan that these would be finished in late 2013. They are being replaced by A350s in 4 years, not by 777s.

I know what's been publicly stated regarding the A350s replacing 744s. What I am saying, and what others have mentioned in the IAH-LHR thread, is that aircraft are being freed up with the arrival of the 787s, ex-domestic 763s, and other schedule realignments such as the appearance of 757s on IAD-LHR. Given UA's statements that international capacity growth will be essentially flat next year, that would imply either (1) retirement of other aircraft, or (2) much decreased utilization. (I guess the third option would be that UA is lying in SEC disclosure documents.)

Perhaps the 777s that are being displaced by 787s and 767s will allow for the accelerated IPTE conversion of the remaining sUA 777s. We know that it is a goal of UA to offer a lie-flat product in Business First on its international fleet. They might be aiming to have this completed before summer of 2013.

Just a guess...

Where's the growth then? UA is only taking delivery of 10-12 787s over the next 2 years and retiring 5 762s at the same time. I think someone pointed out the net result of 1 extra widebody with the retirements. Not sure how many 763s are being retired, but I'd hope they wouldn't dump them all that quickly.

Perhaps the 777s that are being displaced by 787s and 767s will allow for the accelerated IPTE conversion of the remaining sUA 777s.

Certainly plausible! Out of curiosity, when did the last ex-UA 777 IPTE conversion occur? Is it possible that future conversions could be to 2-class aircraft?

Out of curiosity, is there a move to install a single carpet, seat cover, and sidewall design across the fleet? I'm much less familiar with the UA/CO integration than that of DL and NW, but it seems DL moved much quicker to harmonize interiors.

At this point all reconfigured 2-cabin sUA 763s will be getting the same interiors that are the exact same as the reconfigures sCO 764s. 787s will have the same exact interior as an sCO aircraft, as the first set of 787s coming online are sCO orders. If i'm not mistaken the reconfigured PS 757s will also have an sCO style interior.

Delta moved to get Seat covers and carpets the same, because there was a bigger difference between the two airline's styles. I agree that having a consistent image is good for customers' perceptions of the newly merged airline, but I think Delta has been much slower at lining up the actual hard product on board. United has quickly joined their BusinessFirst services and will very shortly be able to say that they have lie flat seats across their entire international fleet (at least among the planes that will ever get it.) I can't believe how slow Delta has been to update their 767 and 747's. Have they even started to think about the Airbuses?

744 fleet will be done within the next month or so. Granted, it's been slow, but it is a nicer hard product than what UA offers in C and Y on their 744 fleet. The 763 fleet is moving slowly, yes, but there will be, I believe, six modification lines throughout the winter to install new overheads, lie flat seats in C with direct aisle access, and nose to tail AVOD.

Quoting cosyr (Reply 57):

Yes, they will get the same lie flat seat in BE as the 744 fleet. The 330 fleet is/was more up to date than the 763, so the decision was made to focus first on 763 refits.

Also in that vein, Boeing's delivery of 787 #2 is slipping.

N667UA sked to ferry 6876/22Oct SEA-HKG.
Can't find N673UA returning from HKG yet.

N672UA may be the next mod unit as it appears to be en route to a GSO visit. Currently ferrying SFO-IAD today (diverted from SFO-GSO, but no weather problems expected at GSO today). There is a 3 Class 763ER in GSO (N658UA), which arrived 10/20. Any info appreciated.

N19621 just ferried IAH-HOU (6861/22). Usually that means a fleet exit, but not on the recent list of aircraft to exit. Anyone have an idea?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but does anyone know what the company plans on doing with the 737-800's with the mid cabin lav ( a/c 260-277). Are they planning on keeping them with the mid cabin lav and adding DTV and E+ or are they going to just remove the mid cabin lav and add DTV and E+?

The plan is to rip out the mid-cabin lav, install DTV, and reduce F from 20 to 16 and Y will go 132 to 138. Basically if you go to united.com, and select the 16/138 version 738 that's what the 20/132 738s will look like after the conversion is complete.

Forgive me if this has been explained but what is this?

From http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php/United_Fleet_(UA) are these sUA 777s (N768UA, N772UA, N779UA) currently international 3-class birds going to be converted to 2-class ... with what seats and with what configuration?

Do we know if there are any plans for the remaining 6 domestic and Hawaii sUA 772s (XA)?

Are these essentially replacing some of the domestic sUA 763s that are being moved to international ops? So in the end we will have 9 domestic and Hawaii sUA 777s up from 6?

The three additional Domestic 777s will replace the four Pacific configured 764s, those four 764s will be converted to international configuration the same as the other 12 764s. All 14 of the domestic 763s are currently being converted to two class International aircraft, the capacity being lost on the Hawaiian flights are being made up for by 757-300s which are taking over the LAX/SFO-Hawaii flights once operated by 763s. The 757-300s which previously flew from EWR and IAH to Florida, Las Vegas, California and the Caribbean are being replaced by UA's 757-200s and new 737-900ER deliveries.

So far there hasn't been anything official regarding the 4 76H aircraft. As far as I know those aircraft will remain as is for the time being, although will more then likely get E+ that's about it. Right now and as far as the schedule goes those 76H aircraft will remain on the hawaii flights out of EWR, IAD & SFO.

Good analysis by STT757. This is the real beauty of the merger - reallocate each subsidy's equipment where it can best provide revenue and load opportunities.

It would not make sense to keep the 764H aircraft on EWR/IAD/IAH-HNL after the three 772A Old International units are converted. The 772A in Hawaiian config picks up nearly 100 seats per departure vs. the 764H.

If anything the 764H aircraft could fly West Coast-Hawaii, but the aircraft is much more capable and can provide more revenue internationally while the 753 is perfect for WC-Hawaii. Maybe the 764 could cover DEN-Hawaii, but with the international configuration being pretty dense, should fly that sector profitably. I predict the 764H conversion will not take place until after the 772As are converted in late Spring or even after peak Summer 2013.

The only reason to not convert the 764H units to the lie flat international aircraft is cost. The 764H, with the odd BF seating, has only 14 more total seats than the new lie flat international config. If E+ is installed and row goes, drop that to only 7 seats (the mini Y cabin could be problematic to convert to E+. ) and revenue potential of 19 additional BF seats should outweigh those few added seats on the high density aircraft. The other plus is a common fleet.

Internationally, the 764 lie flat configuration has 242 seats in comparison to 252 on the 772A old international config. The added cost of flying the 772A vs. 764ER couldn't be covered by just 10 total seats, even if there are 10 Global First seats and 10 more Business seats. The 764ER and 772A has roughly the same range and the 772A range limitation keeps it in European markets, which are not a premium heavy as some Asian markets. (Not sure if the 772A flies South America). Sure cargo could tip the 772A on some flights, but the 764R has cargo potential as well.

All these moves will add international widebodies:
772: drop 3 772A model aircraft in old international config - allows 764 reconfiguration with big Hawaii seat gain
764: add 4 international aircraft (if the last 4 are converted) - cover 3 772A models with little seat loss
763: 14 additional international aircraft. - Covered mostly by 753 and 739ERs
762: Last 5 will exit - covered by aircraft above with large seat gains.
Not counting the 787s this provides a total of 10 internationally configured widebody aircraft. Of course, all 10 aircraft will probably cover some domestic/Hawaii routes, but will provide much added International lift for new markets and EWR upgrades

According to exit plans, 527UA and 544UA are to exit the fleet in 9/12. Well, that hasn't happened, but if they will go soon, will surely not get painted. 532UA and 517UA are shown as a 2/13 exit - if that is correct, would they get re-painted?

N579UA is shown as ferrying to VCV tomorrow, which would leave 5 and maybe 2 to 4 or those won't get paint. Maybe VCV will start painting 763 (14 left), 772 (7 left). Airbus aircraft seem to be making real progress with 3 lines GLH X2 & AMA. 744s (14 left) are not being painted, but have had the work done at FTW.

Just meant at this time. I hope the push is for narrowboodies now, then switch to widebodies in a couple of weeks.

Expect the 744s to get painted. By January, if everything works out, the 787 will take over 3-4 widebody routes. The 764 mod should be done by the end of the year, providing another widebody. The 763ER mods should release an airplane every couple of weeks starting at the end of the year. The 772A models should go into mod for Hawaii conversion, taking one unit out of service. The net should be about6-7 widebodies in Mid-January, so, painting should start soon.

I believe these birds were originally configured for trancons with the extra lav. However, they do not have DTv. They will need extra mod time to rip out the lav, pull out a row of F install E+ and DTv. No clue when and where this will happen, but once DTv and E+ is done on the 738 and 739 fleet, you'd expect the mid lavs to be reconfigured if not begun earlier.

UA announced that Winston Salem (INT) will do DTv mods and have two lines. Right now there is one line and working on the 739ERs. The most recent one was done in 9 days - with one line that would be 72 days to complete the 739s. The 8 non-DTv 738s would take 72 days. Let's hope they open the second INT DTv mod line soon and get it done.

Wondering where the remaining DTv 738/739s will get E+. There are 2 non-sky 739ERs that should get done (maybe at LAX). The Sky 738/739 units will probably need STCs as will the latest 739ERs with E+ and no DTv at this point.

That makes sense as the Ex-ATA birds are ETOPS and heavily used in Hawaii. UA seems OK with having overhead programming on Hawaiian routes. The CO build 763s, w/o ETOPS can't fly to Hawaii and DTv makes sense.

You can't get DTV between the mainland and Hawaii reliably, so it makes little sense to retrofit these ETOPS birds with a feature that will only work for the first ten minutes out of SNA, LAX, SFO, or wherever.
Here in ANC, it's always quite annoying to swipe my credit card an only end up with the movies stored on a hard drive. Better than nothing, of course, and it usually comes back a little while before you get to Seattle... but....

N847UA is exiting SFO today flight 766. Assume it was in for WiFi as it arrived when N806UA departed on 10/12.
The question is if either of these aircraft have working WiFi.

ps 752 flights have the statement "Wi-Fi access is available for purchase on this flight." in the InFlight Entertainment section of Flight Amenities on United.com Flight Status. N806UA is now in paint and a current flight can't be accessed via UA Flight Status, but i don't recall seeing the WiFi statement on it after it exited SFO.

Maybe it's not added yet, but the statement is not shown on Flight 766 today with N847UA today.
Anyone have more info?

One question though: why do you list the B-787 under the sUA operated aircraft. They are actually being flown by sCO crews and serviced by their mechanics. Shouldn't they be listed under the sCO section?

Funny, I asked myself the same question yesterday!

I guess because they have been delivered as UNITED, and that is where the brand is going. The Repaint of Continental aircraft was a renaming to remove the Continental name [even though new 739 aircraft get added to the totals]; the rebranding of the sUA aircraft was a full repaint. That listing is completed, so I guess that 787 could go there too!

The A319, A320 and B757 aircraft from sUA are almost completed, leaving only the B763, B777 and B744 aircraft.

At that time, I planned to fold all completed Globe livery aircraft into one listing [as happened with the UNITED Express lists] and have just the remaining three groups at the top of the table for updating.

You are technically correct - it was just a case of practicality with the new deliveries going to that list.

I saw one of them about a week and a half ago in BNA. Still says Continental.

And last night I saw an ERJ that had been retitled, but still had most of a CO bragging sticker next to the door.

Amen, they need E+ and they need new BF seats. Would be much easier to schedule and only lose 14 total seats, while gaining 19BF seats (all 39 would be lie flat) and 70E+ seats.

Now that schedules are starting to being loaded, look for the 744 fleet to be primarily isolated at SFO.

Some upcoming changes:
ORD-NRT downgauge to 777
ORD-HKG downgauge to 777
SFO-KIX upgauge to 744
HNL-NRT upgauge to 744
Both SFO-FRA will be on 744
Both SFO-NRT will be on 744
One of the SFO-LHR will get upgauge to 744.

Suppose anything is possible such as a single turn flight or a W routing, but intent is to isolate the 744s to the West Coast and thus the ORD 744 domicile will close.

What's the world coming to when United Airlines doesn't fly 747s to Chicago?

Are the re configurations for the 9 (6 existing and 3 former international) 772s scheduled yet? Also have you heard if the rumor about one of the 3 class 763s being converted to 2 class are true?

Looks like IPTE is scheduled and due to be completed by APR 2013. Showing 2 in work and seven more to be accomplished.

Showing 14 of those 767-300s to be converted. 6 are done, 3 are in work, 5 more are scheduled to be done. They are all 6600 fleet numbers.

Did we ever get any conclusion on wheteher or not the 4 AirMike 764's will be reconfigured?

They are scheduled.

So, with the 4 AirMike 764s to be converted, then either UA will operate HNL-EWR/IAH/IAD with the reconfigured 764s or with 772A models if converted. The loss of only 14 seats isn't enough to keep the 764 Air Mike configuration and run 2 fleets. The E+ conversion would be odd with the mini Y cabin.

However, I'd vote for 772A conversion as the swap would only drop 24 seats on international routes if the 764 took over for the 772A while almost 100 seats could be added on Hawaiian services with the 772A vs. the 764. NOTE, the 772A and 764ER have basically the same range.

In any case, get those AirMike 764s converted to get lie flats, E+, AVOD and fleet commonality.

Yes, your info is more up to date after checking the aircraft.

We should be receiving 2 737-900ERs per month starting in December. November 2012 shows 3 joining the fleet.

All of the 767-200s and 737-500s are scheduled to leave the fleet in 2013, subject to change of course.

Showing a whole slew of sUAL 757-200s that are scheduled to leave in 2013-2014. Have to see how that plays out, next one would be in Dec 2012. Then again N501UA is still in SFO being used as a spare parts bird.

Wow, no more 747s for flights #881/2 and #895/6.

I live under one of the flight paths for planes arriving or departing ORD from/to the northwest, and I've been seeing these flights and others (like when #835/6 was a 747) high overhead on occasion for over a decade. Years ago it used to be a common sight for me to see two UA 747 contrails in the same area of sky. They would be flying just 5 minutes apart. These flights literally turned me into a plane watcher with my telescopes. That's just very sad news for me. My area of the sky will be pretty much devoid of 747s now.

Sorry to see that 753 N57852 has departed MCO after just 4 days, w/o DTV/E+, so we'll have to pull the conversion back at least for now.
N75858 looks to be an RON at MCO tonight - maybe it will go into DTV/E+ mod, but I won't post for a couple of days or until I get confirmation.

735 N46625 was to ferry today IAH-HOU, undoubtedly to be a fleet exit, but was put back into revenue service this afternoon. Will continue to monitor.

763ER maintenance:
N672UA domestic 2 class departing GSO 6869/8 - probably next to head to HKG for mod, but no indication yet.
N664UA domestic 2 class entered GSO 6852/8
NOTE: right now there are only 2 domestic 2 class birds in revenue service N665UA & N666UA. However, N672UA may go back into service before HKG mod. N664UA is in GSO mainenance.

What I have seen so far, new back and bottom cushions and covers, armrests and tray tables repaired/replaced, overhead bin doors and overhead bins being painted or new installs, new sidewall panels or maybe they are just getting paint too, DADO panels getting cleaned, new curtains, deco on galleys, closets lavs and kick panels redone. Will check on all work being performed. Interiors look good when done. The shabbiness disappears.

There was a thread a while back maybe this one, or a previous update thread where someone had mentioned that all new deliver aircraft are going to be delivered with the CO style interiors, and if you look at an a reconfigured 763 it has the same style interior as the reconfigured 764, so that's a pretty good indication of what the seat fabric will be and such.

CALTECH,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The refreshed interior looks great. I see that all the seats are now the same fabric and that it seems be the same fabric that sUA uses on their IPTE 767/777's. I never cared for how the E+ and E seats were colored differently.

I'm thrilled that the carpet is being removed from the galleys. Remember when we first received non-rev benefits on sUA and I said that their planes all smelled like old coffee? I think the carpet was the reason why -- you said it was because of puke

Are the sidewalls a white color now? They look so much better than the yellow. I hope the flowered wallpaper in the lavs is now gone as well!

Thanks again.

People here on a.net just cannot seem to understand the TREMENDOUS EXPENSE that seats are, and the HUGE LEAD TIMES necessary to get them. We're talking YEARS between ordering a shipset, and B/E Aerospance (or whoever) actually being able to deliver them. With aircraft production at an all time high, both Boeing and Airbus are snapping up seats from all manufacturers as fast as they can make them, particularly with the demise of every bean counter's favorite manufacturer, Koito. Those of us who flew CO regularly are very familiar with Koito seats, and our chiropractors are laughing all the way to the bank...

Seat covers themselves are relatively cheap, but not as cheap as you might think, given the fire-retardant chemical coating, and the certification that goes along with that. People charge way too much for this stuff, and carriers are loathe to waste money by recovering seats. Except DL, which seemed bound and determined to get rid of NW's fairly attractive covers as fast as they could...

I was certainly disappointed to see the familiar CO seat covers on N20904 last week, but as the seats were ordered by CO years ago, I wasn't surprised.

I did fly the Sky interior the other day for the first time and must say I found the overhead bins rather strange. When opened, there appeared to be some black fabric between the bin and where it was attached to the ceiling. I don't know why, but it looked strange, like it was about to fall down.

Yeah they do look good....interesting that they chose to use that particular seat cover. pmUA didn't plan on putting those covers on any of the narrowbody fleet those were only due to be outfitted on IPTE aircraft.

If so, that really begs the question as to why they didn't use it as an opportunity to standardize.

Any truth in the rumor of one of the 2x EWR-TLV going 747 and a return of the a/c to EWR? Also heard a 3rd city to India from EWR is possible, maybe a EWR-PRG since DL dumped their JFK flight and the EWR-IST could upgauge to a 772. Anything on these rumors would be appreciated.

The new schedule has the 744s almost exclusively operating out of SFO (and I think LAX-SYD and HNL-NRT), so I'd say that's very, very unlikely.

Sorry if I missed the information int he tread i did try a search but is their any information on the 747 Wifi entertainment. I have read that it's aimed at the pacific routes but will it be fitted to all 747's or will they create a sub fleet for the routes.

I'm due to be flying SFO-LHR early June and I am trying to find out if any of this will be used at all on the route by then or if that route will still have old style TV's on the 10 hr flight for some time to come.

N576UA sked VCV-LAX 6850/21 1500 PST.
Guessing that was the last 752 to get paint
N544UA & N527UA were to leave fleet in Sep and N532UA and N517UA look slated for Feb 13.

VCV has had two paint lines - will a second line be a 763, 772 or maybe a 744?

N970SW last flew IAH-COS on 11/16 according to flightaware. Then, there's a OO CR2 flight from COS-ROW the same night...probably a safe assumption the last gray CR2 is in for paint.

Do not see a cross ferry of any type into VCV yet. Maybe a second line will open after Thanksgiving. 772? 763? 744?

Any idea how long it will be at LAX ? Will it go on a revenue flight from LAX or just ferry out ?

763ER 2 Class Lie Flat International Upgrade:

N670UA sked for a test hop today (HKG time), then sked to ferry HKG-SFO 6869/26 with mod complete
N664UA sked to ferry 6876/25 GSO-SEA & 6876/26 SEA-HKG into mod
N666UA now en route SFO-GSO 6880/24 (indicating it will be next aircraft to HKG)

NOTE: N665UA is the only Domestic configured 763ER in service and is mostly flying SFO-IAH-LIM-IAH-SFO..

763ER 2 Class Lie Flat mod:

N670UA is approaching SFO from HKG with 2 Class Lie Flat mod complete. Sked to ferry tomorrow to IAH.
N674UA sked this morning SEA-HKG into mod.

It looks like N665UA, only remaining Ghetto bird, is flying IAH-LIM-IAH everyday now. If N665UA goes to GSO prior to HKG mod, expect the last ghetto bird revenue flight just about Christmas.

So, are they going to put an international 2-class 763ER onto the LIM route for good?

I see the 767-300 scheduled well into February and onwards.

I feel like those 13 767s got reconfigured in a real hurry, relative to everything else they reconfigured in the fleet. Am I the only one?

I mean, those planes needed to be gutted and redone (and I hear that they have been, and seen a few pictures, although I haven't seen the bins in economy). The winglets also no doubt required some structural strengthening, the engine software replacing, all that wiring for the IFE installed, international-ish galleys. I'm sure the maintenance department wanted to do the same thing to those kids that they were doing to the sUA 757s while they were offline and pulled apart.

This was major change... and they blew through them. Am I just that oblivious?

edit: is it because its easier to replace domestic capacity and they were able to take the planes offline in larger chunks?

Yes, thanks to the synergies of the combined network rather than two completely independent networks helped free up aircraft to do the job during the mods. The economy helped reduce overall capacity needed.

That was a typo - N664UA is now in HKG. Sorry.

772 IPTE: N795UA (#2795) coming out of IPTE mod at SFO did operate 201/26, but looks like it left 4 hours late, flew a couple hours, returned and cancelled.
Now N795UA is sked 1757/27 SFO-HNL.
It looks like N798UA has gone into SFO mod as it arrived SFO 858/25 and all other 772ER w/o IPTE are flying.

744: N104UA was rumored to be in SFO for WiFi - FlightAware shows several flights with this aircraft, but United.com does not confirm N104UA is flying or scheduled yet. Remember, the 319s have several units with WiFi, but they are turned off awaiting government approval.

N819UA sked to enter AMA 6879/27

These aircraft had a lot to change and after the first one averaged about 50 days each to complete.
There is still a ways to go.
9 completed
3 in oprocess at HKG
1 in GSO Maint
1 still flying revenue.
According to my calculations one is due out 12/10, one 1/6, one 1/14. The remaining 2 will go in behind the 12/10 and 1/6 units, meaning they'll be out about 1/25 and 2/21, when the program will be complete. Outside chance the last two can be done earlier when the operation goes from three mod lines to two lines, then to one line at HKG.

We will just have wait and see

sUA 752 Interior Refresh:
N541UA Exited MCO 759/27 with interior refresh.
N585UA Entered MCO 663/26
These seem to be like clockwork, taking 6 days to complete.

Looking forward:

788 26902 sked ferry LAX-DEN 6852/29.

735 N58606 is in IAH since 11/24 - probably will ferry to HOU for fleet exit. If exiting, all 735s in service will have E+.

Airbus Paint: expect N805UA to be released from AMA in a couple days and be replaced with another Airbus.

738 N76526 should be coming out of INT with DTV soon - Maybe Thanksgiving slowed things down a bit.

Wondering if GLH will get more Airbuses to paint. Looks like 9 still in sUA scheme - would take 4 weeks with two lines at AMA.

2 left to go: N447UA and N485UA

752 ps reconfiguration question:
N596UA is to be first getting new seats, etc. FlightAware shows it in IND 1851/16Oct.
N516UA is sked 6852/30 into IND. Does this mean IND is the mod location and N596UA is ready to Exit?

762 Service:
N76153 and N73152 both show being in IAH since 11/24. Fleet plan shows removal of 2 767s in 4th quarter. United.com shows 4 units needed to fly EWR-ZRH and EWR-MXP plus IAH-GRU(2 units). GRU loses the 762 1/13/13, ZRH 2/4/13 and MXP 2/23/13. Assume one of five total units may leave the fleet while others will be phased out in Jan and Feb.

Waiting for these to Exit

Not sure about either. It was thought 815 was shown by a CALTECH post 9/12/12 on Thread 12

Quote - Paint Birds now that summer is over.

AMA- 4297, 0415

I looked and 0415 (738 now 3415) was out of service at that time. It was posted on the thread as thinking there was a typo and 815UA was shown as painted. So, unless it can be verified, I think it's not painted yet.

809 was shown as not completed on this thread on 10/5 post. On 10/9, 809 is shown as painted,. but there is no post between the two indicating 809 was painted. ANet's photos show a 9/16/12 photo in UA Blue. FlightAware shows no down time after that date.

We'll just have to wait and see unless there's other verification.

I'm surprised so few OO planes have been repainted two years after the merger. I guess UA does not have a timeline for OO to complete the process.

Agreed, and the same goes for the other carriers. The ExpressJet 145s were getting redone at a very fast clip and then slammed on the brakes with just a few left. There have been a lot of comments wondering if the pilot's scope negotiation was affecting this process.

It also looks like several more OO birds have been in/out of ROW in the last month or so, but no linkage to which aircraft those are.

United shows both being flown again in revenue service. interesting that both would be out of service for a few days in IAH. Just checked and the other 3 are operating in revenue service as well. Maybe they were subbed for with larger equipment after Thanksgiving.

These seem to be like clockwork, taking 6 days to complete.

N516UA is a 1990 build. Think UA has second thoughts about retiring these ships if they are redoing the interiors?

I've been looking for help on the bins installations. To verify mod completions, I usually check Flight Status on United.com - flight amenities or seat maps. However, the bins don't show up. Below is a list of aircraft that probably have bins due to LCQ visits, but I can't verify any except a couple provided from people on this board from being on those aircraft (485UA and 826UA confirmed).

N209UA was shown as diverted to ANC, where it sat until this evening - now en route PEK 6879/4Dec.

Looks like the last non-E+ 735 will be headed out of the fleet. Showing N58606 as ferrying to HOU 6854/6DEC - last flight to be 1667/5Dec BOS-IAH. When it leaves there will only be 9 left in service.

Last Ghetto bird flight may soon or have already taken place. N665UA is the last ghetto bird 763 flying and sitting in ORD. Based on past info, N667UA should be exiting HKG with 2 class in a few days, be replaced at HKG with N666UA, (now in GSO) and expect N665UA to head to GSO before going to HKG for mod. In any case expect N665UA to head to HKG about 1/6/13.

ps (premium service) reconfiguration Update, sort of.
N596UA was expected to be first ps reconfigured aircraft. FlightAware shows it in IND since 9/7/12. Also shown in IND are 752s N520UA (11/15/12) and N516UA (11/30/12).
Does anyone have info?
Is IND the reconfiguration location?
Are these 1990 build units (516/520) to be converted? The newest sUA 752s are the last 9, which are 1996/98 build.

I see that on Airliner.net photos. Differences are, blue vs. grey engines, N number is a different spot, Tulip design vs. globe name and Star Alliance seems to be in a thinner type on the globe sCO units (N76021 for example).

However, if the paint is fairly new, they could just paint the engines and Name w/o a full repaint.

Looks like N794UA was painted from UA blue to Star, so either there will be two in the Star scheme (unlikely given the number of other aircraft already wearing it), or 218 is getting the globe colors.

Thanks for the photo - updated UA fleet Webs - sCO has three of 22 772s in Star - wouldn't be surprised if they just repaint the name and engines if the paint is still good on N218UA.

End of an era?
N665UA ferried today 6859/6Dec ORD-GSO. Along with N666UA, these are the only Ghetto birds remaining. N666UA is sked to ferry GSO-SFO 68577Dec, probably setting up for ferry to HKG for reconfiguration when N667UA is complete, which should be any day now. Based on previous activity, N665UA has likely had it's last revenue flight prior to reconfiguration, and will get heavy maint prior to departing for HKG about the first of the year.

744 Maint:
