Ok, I'm probably just being forgetful here (it's been a long holiday already), but on Matt Cawby's most recent picture of the beautiful new Qatari 747BBJ, there's a 777(?) tail in the background that I can't identify. Anyone?

In all serious I have no clue, but it looked like it was moved their yesterday, an Etihad 777 was there on the 3rd based on his other pictures.

If you imagine the lower white patch will be painted red, then it looks like Aeroflot.

The center stripe is a light blue, where as with SU that would be the same dark color as the background of the tail. The stripes are also the wrong shape for SU.

I'd say it's Aeroflot. The center stripe is light blue and the bottom stripe hasn't been painted red yet. The stripe patterns on the rudder also match those on the B763.

If I look at SU photos in the db, my lying eyes perceive the blue stripe as a lighter shade than the tail.

Yeah. The image I looked at was a small image so you could not see the center stripe color.

If you look close enough in the photo you can see there is a deflection of the Rudder. There is the shadow being cast by the Top part of the rudder that fits into the tail top hinge. That would make the angle of the stripes look off. I do believe it is AeroFlot.

I thought they had some 737 Classics that also had that paint scheme.

yes, 737-400s were also painted in that livery. Indeed, a mixed fleet.
