B6 To Launch BOS-PHL in Late May (by RL757PVD Dec 12 2012 in Civil Aviation)#menu52

As stated in this thread there is going to be Jet Blue service to PHL.

What gates are they going to use? Who is going to do the ground handling and the CS side? Thanks!!

It will only be one gate and most likely Menzies or GAT will do the ground handling.

Customer service will without a doubt be handled by B6. Even with only 3 flights a day, PVD and DFW are both handled above the wing by B6.

Below the wing... I don't know. PHL will have 5 flights a day, so more than PVD or DFW. BDL has 8 flights a day, and B6 recently brought the ramp handling there in-house. I wonder what their threshold is for having an in-house ramp.

If the ramp handling is contracted out, I would expect it to be a ground handling company, as Av8tor said, like Menzies, Swissport, or Servisair. I don't think B6 contracts their ramp handling to other airlines.

Not sure about ground handling, but there are some Blue Cities that the contract MX provider is another airline instead of a contract MX company. US as PHX, UA at PDX, AC in BGI, and I know there are more. So, it may not be completely out of the question...but I too doubt it.

When I worked on the ramp the two main contractors on the field were DGS and Evergreen. I'm willing to bet due to Air Jamaica leaving and DGS being their handler, that they'll pick up the B6 contract.

Well there might be some room in A-East. There is certainly plenty of Check-in space but US has really fought to have all of the A-east gates, especially the Immigration linked gates.

There might be a gate in D that is currently used for DL and/or UA RONs and some odd ball boardings like the PHL-EWR flts. There is vacant Check-in space at D that was formerly used by FL

And there are plenty of gates in E. I don't know how many FL/WN have now but with only ~25-30 flts/day I doubt they have as many as they once had (at least 10 if I recall correctly). I do not know about check in space at E with DL, WN, and VX currently there.

I'm willing to be they go in to E1 so they have easy access to 17-35. VX uses E3 with E5 for a RON. I don't believe there's a jetway at E7 and I don't think E2 exists right now. The last time I was in E for a late arrival on VX both UA and DL RON'd planes on A4-8.

I suspect they will use E as well.

Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if every gate at E is taken by RON'd aircraft but then during certain parts of the day it is a complete ghost town. Also don't forget right now B6 will not RON an aircraft.

I arrived late Sunday night on a UA flight and we taxied by terminal E - 100% full with RON'd aircraft. But I agree - E seems like a logical place for B6 as it's the grab bag of airlines at PHL
