Apparently five used IAE V2500 powered aircraft will be dry leased to replace the dwindling 737-300 fleet, only four of which are now left flying, original plan for five 737-800 from an unnamed source and two 777-200ER from Egypt Air, was changed to eight 738s which was also shelved despite having been approved, three more 320s will come in later.

PIA engineering are against this deal due to engine choice and were favouring the 737, rumored that the airlines former CEO/MD resigned due to this as well, he wanted Boeings too.

Twice in the past PK attempted to get the Airbus, in 2007 brand new on lease and in 2010 from Freebird Airlines.

Interestingly Kingfisher aircraft might be the ones they are going for, in the case of 738 they were looking at Jet Airways.

PIA employees are against everything!

This shows how "serious" the airline is being managed...

PK really don't know what theyre doing in terms of fleet development.
They should decide on a rationalised fleet, one long haul (777), one short haul 737/A32X and perhaps a small regional prop. 743's, 733's, A310s etc should be gone, along with any marginal routes they support.

Yes I didnt mention those as they were only two leased temporarily during Hajj, not a long term replacement as in the other cases.

Forget PIA I am favoring the private airlines Air Blue and Shaheen Air which are doing very well compare to PIA.

I didn't know that it was that short, but it is a good reason why you didn't mention those

These private airlines are doing very well indeed. They can transfer the newest fleet of PIA to one of these private airlines and give all traffic and brand rights from PIA to them, something like with Swissair -> Swiss when the former went bankrupt.

You know where they will come from?

One of the bigger leasing firms, rumored to be ex-Kingfisher planes.
