Forgive me if this has been discussed, but has the US DFW-DCA route been axed? I've always enjoyed the shuttle connections to the northeast and found DCA to be far superior to connect through rather than CLT or PHL.

Tried booking DFW-DCA-BOS today and found its not in the timetable any longer.

Yeah, unfortunately   US surrendered two of the slots used for the DFW-DCA service in order to launch DCA-SAN this past June. It's discussed in this article.

Frankly, I wasn't even aware that the service was axed myself. I was surprised by how long it lasted - I think its existence pre-dated the HP-US merger in 2005, I believe? While I'm sure it wasn't a terrible performer, it was likely one of the weaker spokes in the US network from DCA and higher margins could be achieved out of a new SAN flight.

I knew that the (2) slots for SAN-DCA were gained by US through the surrender of (2) DFW-DCA slots but I didn't realize that the carrier op'd only a single r/t in the DC-to-Texas market. Interesting. It seemed to me at the time that it must have been a poorly performing route since US could have instead surrendered the 2 slots in any number of other multi-flight hub-markets that they serve from National Airport. (Such as AA, DL and UA did, choosing to drop a r/t each in their DCA-DFW, DCA-LGA, and DCA-ORD markets, respectively.)

But then, US played that whole DC-Beyond-Perimeter case rather strangely (in many peoples' opinions) so what's one more question mark?

That is a shame. Thanks guys.

I would often pay a premium just to fly that US route because of the E-jet coach product was better than anything to the northeast. I guess this loss stings less now that B6 does DFW-BOS on the E-Jet now.
