No mention of what type it was, other than it being a small twin-engined aircraft. Reported to have been flying to Morocco, where it was registered.

Any further details?

Small Plane Registered in Morocco and Built in the USA Crashes in France Killing Five

I doubt it, that'd be too long. Should be already clear it's a small plane crash - for all the details one can read the linked news item.

Apparently there was a family of five onboard.

Aircraft hit a hill and crashed into a wooded area. According to the Mirror (did a scout of all news sources, these being the only ones with images) a Husband and wife onboard with their three children. Husband was flying them home back to Morocco after a family holiday.

Tragic. May they rest in peace.

Some images here (not of the wreckage).

Can we be a little more accurate and change the title to:

Small Plane Registered in Morocco and Built in the USA Crashes in France Killing Five

?

Thanks...

The title is accurate. A plane crashed in France and 5 are dead. Details are followed up in the discussion following. No need to change it.

What would be the point of changing the title?

Either way, R.I.P. to the deceased and my prayers go out to their families.

From a French forum, it suggested it was a Piper Seneca, but The more news merging will try to confirm, I keep listening to French news but they never mention the type.

The French national TV news just ran a story, staying it was a family of five flying back to Morocco from Grenoble. They said they were going to fly through Spain, and shower a picture of a Piper Seneca. Someone who lives near the crash told the news that he heard the plane and said the engines were making a strange noise before hearing a bang.

Details in French
http://www.liberation.fr/depeches/20...tourisme-pres-de-l-aeroport_871880

A whole family coming back from a ski trip.

And I still believe the title is inaccurate. There is nothing french about this plane. made in the US and owned and piloted by Moroccans.

Get over the title, it is perfectly fine. I dont get what the deal is with so many people here wanting titles changed that are fine.

Anyways, RIP to the family. Always sad when a whole family is lost like this.

But there is something French about the crash, hence the title.

The wording of the title is ambiguous. When I see "French small plane crash" I immediately think of a small plane built in France, or only secondarily of a small plane possibly registered in France, neither of which appears to be the case.

The title would be much better and avoid the ambiguity if it read " Five dead in small plane crash in France", or "Small plane crashes in France - Five Dead.

As a native English speaker, it's still an unclear title. The crash is the only thing that's French, and in that case the two words should be closer together. Most people would incorrectly interpret "French small plane crash" as the crash of a "French small plane" which this isn't. Another option would be to start with the country name (noun, not adjective), e.g. "France - small plane crash".

As a native English speaker, I know there is always going to be some compromise in thread titles when there is a pretty tight limit. Perhaps we could just stick to discussing the crash?

5 people dead and the first reaction we get is a chauvinistic outburst of people complaining the title's semantics as the plane is not French-made...

A.net at its best.

I saw the title and thought no wonder it crased. I assumed they packed 5 people in a Robin.
