N425QX left the QX fleet somewhere in late October (last known photos at PDX). Does anyone know where this ship went?

QX stated multiple times that this ship would be repainted into normal operating colors as they were coming up on their 30th anniversary and as such a 25th anniversary would be outdated.

Although I do not know if we will see a 30th anniversary plane as the majority of those statements were made before the changes to the AS/QX operations (the change from at-risk to a CPA).

It hasn't left the fleet, though I don't know if it has been repainted. I've definitely seen it since October.

425QX left the fleet in mid October and its registration was cancelled in November. Apparently it was sold back to Bombardier and its future isn't looking too bright.

It has already been scrapped. There was a photo posted of it cut up on the internal websites shortly after its return. As much as this specific aircraft was disliked, it's kind of sad too.

Why was she scrapped?

The in the short time I worked for them, I know she had a reputation for being more mx intensive than the rest, and I think she was one of the oldest birds in the fleet having come second hand from an Asian carrier along with N424QX. Maybe someone more familiar with the plane can corroborate that?

424 was actually the older plane. Would have actually carried the tail number of 399QX if Horizon had kept them in manufacturing sequence. 425 would have fallen between 403 and 404 age wise. The airplanes were purchased from Hainan back in late 2005. 425 I believe will become Encore's flight attendant trainer. Even so, those planes are only 12 years old. Pretty young to be scrapped.

Horizon did purchase 2 new Q400s this year to replace them and their fleet remains at 48 airplanes

Thanks! Finally caught up with it on the FBO ramp yesterday. Is it going to a new owner, or getting scrapped?

Absolutely heartbroken I am! So sad to see one of my all time favourite aircraft meet such an early end.

Saw it on the FBO ramp for a few days. Where did it go after that?

Sad to see a newer aircraft, especially a Q, head to the scrapman.

the cabin of N425QX is being repurposed as a cabin trainer for WestJet's regional arm "Encore"

I worked at QX when it was announced that these planes would be coming in from China, and they made a really big deal about it and their 25th anniversary. If memory serves me correctly, they were configured differently from the other Q4s. Not surprised that they got rid of her, though, Q4s are bad enough on MTX, and they probably figured that it would have been cheaper to dump these and buy two new ones instead. I don't know how many times I'd see the MTX van parked on the Horizon ramp next to a Q4 when the 200s were doing just fine (I miss those "baby dash" birds).

I think they had the same seats as the other ones--the only difference were the window shades (which, at the time it was delivered were quite the novelty).
