India is "concerned" about the recent glitches in Boeing Co's 787 Dreamliner jets and is awaiting a safety report by the country's National Transportation Safety Board, a senior government official said on Friday.

The question is, awaiting the NTSB "safety report" to do what?

Quoting faro (Thread starter):
to do what?

To get more compensation money from Boeing?

Nil chance of that happening by now...they've been there enough times. I'm wondering whether there^s a contractual provision that would allow them to defer deliveries based on specified operational incidents with the type.

Well, it had been two weeks since someone in the Indian government complained about the 787, so I suppose we were past due for a press release.

Unlikely.

I think we have learned from all that has been said from India on the 787 that the bureaucrats don't necessarily reflect the view of the AI operating people. To me this is a stock response to a press question.

According to the press article it's India, the country, that is concerned, not the airline.

The next AI 787 delivery (VT-ANM) is not due until early Feb so they have time to procrastinate.

Well, I'm concerned about AI.

What is the status of their 787 financing anyway?

Sad to see the 787 having EIS issues. But they'll be identified and fixed.

Exactly. We slam AI on this forum, but the airline itself has conducted itself professionally in these matters. It's the "unnamed sources in the Indian Civil Aviation Bureau" who we need to be castigating.

Spot on! In the meantime, Boeing gets a clean chit from A.net even though airlines not named AI have been reporting a lot of issues lately...

There is just one report without sufficient details. it is good to know that AI bashers are on the job and not slacking off! Most of the times it is the media making mountains out of molehills, using some offhand comment by an official, who was probably responding to some journalist's question on the recent 787 issues.

Must be a slow day here in A.Net when any random report is used to bash AI.

I assume if any official involved in aviation in any nation is directly asked about the 787 investigation, they would say the same thing, no?

The AI bashers seem to in fine form for some. But how many actually read the article. The country is different from the airline.

Now a country has every right to be concerned. With the frequency and type of issues 787 has had so far if it were being manufactured by Tupolev it would have already been banned for overflight access over US soil. Period.

I was waiting for this to happen. Are AI now going to try to get more money from Boeing now or are they just going to try to get better terms or the planes for free? Oh and BTW, does not the government own AI?

If there is a series of problems, buyers of huge ticket items like, an airplane, have the right to be "concerned." Hello? What's wrong with that?

I am more worried about the girl that got raped on Delhi's bus and died afterwards.

Just flown both of LO's 787 s and I'm still alive.

India is a big country with large population, one journalist wanted to make some havoc and be promoted or what?
