American Airlines has applied with the DOT for allocation of additional US-Ecuador frequencies.

AA which currently operates 10x weekly between Miami and Guayaquil seeks to offer 4 additional flights effective April 2013 which would allow it to offer consistent double daily service.

Proposed additional flights would utilize 150-seat Boeing 737 equipment per the below schedule.

AA948 GYE-MIA 0705-1230

IMHO, AA would like to ultimately have (at a minimum) double dailies to most major markets in the Caribbean and Lat America. It provides them with good selling tool over UA, DL, AV etc

I dont think either route would work. I know DFW-GYE would be dead in the water. DFW-UIO, maybe one day with a 319, but I still dont see it.

Now that DFW is getting service to BOG and LIM, its South American network is pretty well set. The only other thing would be if AA could get DFW-CCS on a daily basis but the Venezualan government wont hear it.

Also, when you consider that AA codeshares with LAN (and will eventually codeshare with TAM), AA will be able to offer their customers even more non-stop flights to key destinations in South America. For example, AA/LA currently operate 3 daily non-stop flights between MIA and UIO, AA/LA will soon offer their customers 4 daily non-stop flights between MIA and BOG, etc.
