I'm sure this is still subject to operational snags but if this information is correct, UA must have received some firm news via Boeing and the FAA to load in the schedules.

So six weeks to finish off the paperwork and retrofit their 787s. The ramp-up is faster than initial entry and hopefully there will be no further snags. They should be receiving another five 788s this year to round out their initial 11 from the sCO order.

Good luck to all in getting the 788 back in revenue service.

I am sure United just loaded this knowing they can operate IAH-DEN with another plane anyway so just load it in and hope for the best and get some 787 flgights in hopefully to test the plane out before they do long overwater runs. For the others im sure its just a guess and they can operate some with other planes hopefully. If ETOPS gets cut i woudl think all those flights could still operate just maybe longer times needed. Boeing certainly cant promise anything on dates they would publicize it everywhere if they had a guess of when these would be back flying. The dreamliner seems to be remaining a dream

Besides the huge copyright violation from copy/pasting another site's webpage in whole, none of this should be taken as set in stone until the 787 has been cleared to fly.

Is there some reason we can't quote airlineroute.net here?

Wasn't the LAX-NRT route already in operation when the 787 was grounded? Does this mean they will start new routes with the 787 before resuming the LAX-NRT route?

I'd say this is quite optimistic given that UA (nor anyone else for that matter) knows whether the 787 will be cleared to return to commercial service by 31 May. Frankly, I'd be suprised if UA believes that this schedule will hold. If I were betting, I'd put the 787's full return to commercial service later in the summer or sometime in early fall.

Probably, but what it would be is anybody's guess. Maybe it has not been confirmed but just a rumour and Routes doesn't want to be a source of unsubstantiated rumours.

the airplanes still need to be modified to the new configuration, are the actual PARTS available?? I think this might be somebody's Wish rather than reality, Could be you need to WAIT until UAL announces it before some supposed unnamed source.
Especially if it's not JEFF!

Yes...and at last report the aircraft is still on the ground NRT waiting on the FAA mandated fix....

http://nyc787.blogspot.com/ just put up an article regarding how many need to be done just at Everett and Charleston besides those aircraft already out in the field. Article further quotes media reports that Boeing will have 8 teams to do the 4-5 day per aircraft fix.

Of course all this is based on a pending FAA approval...date unknown... and with NTSB and Senate hearings upcoming as well.

Would United, as the sole current US operator of this aircraft, get priority? Or All Nippon as having the largest fleet out there? Methinks there are negotiations going on....

So, if they work a 5 day week, it will take roughly 6 weeks to do just the 50 planes in service? If they work weekends, maybe only 4-5 weeks?

I hope this is indication that the FAA will be approving Boeing's changes soon. I hope this works out for UA and for all of the other airlines that need the 787 in their daily ops.

I think it is great that UA is finally expanding the use of the 787s. The most interesting, in my opinion, is to Lagos. It seems that this is the best e/q for the job. I hope it goes well for UA.

Thank you,

laxboeingman

It has previously been reported that Boeing will implement the fix in the 'rough' order of delivery. So ANA gets the #1 spot.
Obviously, Boeing will optimize where planes are and getting them fixed to do that. As an example, if the UA plane that is sitting at NRT can be done while the crew is there doing the other ANA and JAL planes it only makes sense.

I am going to Eastern Europe in late June. UA offered me a return connection on July 8 which included LHR-IAH on the 787. So this is not a rumor if they are offering reservations on the 787.

You are booking a flight there is no promise of equipment its just what is scheduled to operate it. They could easily operate the flight by another airplane if not ready. I am sure they want to operate the 787 so they are scheduling it but that really means nothing. No one knows when this plane will be cleared to operate and its just when united hopes they can.

Has the government sign off on all the proposed changes that Boeing has made to the 787, I know Boeing just completed all the test flights designed to test out the new system? Because if the government has not given the green light then these schedules are a bit premature.

If the end this year with 11;

Do they retire any 767's other than the 200's?

How many due next year? And when to the UA ordered 787's come?

I just can't wait to fly her.

If the end this year with 11;

UAL is only getting two more in 2013 (AUG, SEPT), this has been the case for a long time. The remaining 3 787-8s of sCO's firm order will be delivered in 2014. Here's the break down of the 787 orders;

2013:
2 787-8s to be delivered in August and September (sCO order)

2014:
3 787-8s (sCO)

That ends the sCO firm order for 11 787-8s, they currently have six with two more later this year and 3 in 2014 for a total of 11.

2015:
2 787-9 (sCO )

2016:
7 787-8s (sUA ), 4 787-9 (sCO)

2017:
7 787-8 (sUA), 4 787-9 (sCO)

2018:
6 787-8 (sUA), 4 787-9 (sCO)

2019:
5 787-8 (sUA)

Plus options.

Airways magazine April edition. Looking at the delivery schedule it's likely the first of the 763s, three class sUA, would be retired in 2016 when the first of the sUA 787-8s start coming aboard.
